Did he say it ran a 14.20? That's seems about the same as the current one - slower than the Mach 1.

Not to happy with the "retro" styling. I guess I'm just too young for that.

Depends where it was taken at as well. I would say the new stang is easy 13s.

The darker car is an '03/'04 Mustang Cobra which is known to run the 1/4 mile from mid to high 12s with a good driver. So the '05 Mustang GT kinda kept up with it pretty good.

And what are you basing this assumption on?

Just watched the vid for the 1st time

14.20 @ 96.

96 MPH is NOT FAST enough for a 13s pass. He had a good launch too.

Last years stang ran high 13s stock with a good driver. The new one should be able to hit high 13s stock.

Depending on altitude, will all depend on the time it actually gets. But 96 mph is a sorry excuse for a driver or track. That car runs faster than that.

he he he... The best trap speed on my TL-S is just over 97! Not bad for a 6 cylinder 4 door!

I'd still be a couple of car lengths behind though...

I've yet to see a stock current gen GT run 13s stock. Mach 1s yes. But GTs no.

Remember this was only one run captured on video. So you can't base this video on what the new Mustang GT is capable of, for all we know the driver could be a poor driver who knows. And you have to take the guy's word for the 14.2s time. Also we don't know if it was an auto or a 5 SPD.

I'm at the track all the time. Never seen a stock GT break out of the 14s. The Mustang GT since the 5.0 days has always been "designed" to do 14s from the factory.

On the subject of the New Mustang. Where did the stylist at Dodge get ideas for their new styling from? Here's a hint:

Big difference between NJ and Texas in altitude and weather. I see them run 13s all day long here.

Is Texas below sea level 'cause Englishtown is pretty much @ sea level? While NJ is not as dry as Tx, it's definitely cooler. Odds are, the ones you're seeing arent stock; they may not be modded much but they're not stock.

My friend had a stock 2000 GT and he ran 13.9 stock. No mods. He put gears and intake, he ran 13.6. So um yes, they do run 13s stock. And sorry but Texas owns NJ. Why you think RCR is rated the fastest track in Texas? It's below sea-level and its concrete all the way down to the end leveled with lasers.

Lower than sea level doesn't matter much when it is hotter than NJ. Also the tracks in NJ are around 300 ft above sea level. That's not going to make a huge difference.

Also, obviously gears will make a HUGE difference in acceleration at the track.

Of course gears will, but he still ran a 13.9 stock.

New Mustang GT ran a 13.6 @ 99.9 MPH in MotorTrend this month. And it was an auto.
