Has anyone ever done like a track conversion to the CTS-V?
Weight reduction,wheels/tires,I/H/E etc?
Those stock numbers are pretty insane. If anyone wins the lottery and feels like ripping one apart and pulling the extra seats out let me know how it goes =)

If you want a car for a track conversion, the V is not the right choice. There are some guys on Cadillacforums that will only buy the car without the Ultraview moonroof and with a manual as those things subtract weight. There are some lightweight forged wheels ($4k +!!!!) available for weight loss. The problem is that only a small amount of the production is manual, and usually those who want the manual also want the Recaros and no nav. That's not a popular combination among the great unwashed (e.g. me) and will sit a the average dealer forever....Caddy dealers want a car that won't sit on the lot, and the auto/nav/Ultraview cars with or without Recaros are them.
As far as the auto vs. manny debate....even the V guys are divided. Myself, I'm happy driving the automatic, it's the one that did the 'ring in record time.
Caddy fans debate auto vs. manual--click. Some of these guys are hardcore.

The 6M M was somewhat spanked, though by fractions and by $20k. Don't worry, BMW is coming up with a CTS-V killer....the cycle continues.....

I was rear-ended today.
Bumper, taillight broken. Corsa exhaust shifted slightly. A few scuffs on the rear quarter panel where the bumper cover scratched it. Unknown whether there is frame damage yet, but I doubt it from the way the guy hit my car. While the car is driveable, I can't bear to have it out with the scar on it, so the S2000 is taking on daily driver duty until the V comes back from the body shop. If there's frame damage....it's gone and I'm in the market for a new car again.
No one was hurt and the guy was insured, thankfully. There is a police report upcoming.
SIGH. The car hasn't even had its first oil change and has only a touch over 4k miles on it.

Ouch, that sucks Bob.
As long as it's more cosmetic than anything else. You'll be Ok.

THat shouldn't be a problem. Just remember to have an eagle eye and an iron fist when dealing with the body shop. They'll try to sneak some mis-aligned body panels and overspray past you in a heartbeat.....

Bob, your car will be ok, you will be ok, everything will be ok. One question though, how do you already have 4000 miles on that car? My 06 RL, that we both bought at the same time only has 18k on it, you must travel a lot, or you have a seriously long drive to work.

oh no!
I hate to see this happen to new cars.

Man that really sucks. But why so set on getting rid of it if there is any "frame" damage? If there was in that it would be so minimal it wouldnt hurt it at all. And with todays cars they are designed to be repaired easy and if it was a good body shop it would be the same as it was new.

I was more upset about the lack of pristineness than anything. I highly doubt any frame damage at all given where the car was hit, right on the corner. At this point, I'm calmly and serenely awaiting completion of the repair so I can go back to enjoying it. I'm impressed that the bumper did its job so well that no other parts (trunk lid, trunk floor or quarter panel) were significantly damaged.

not a big deal. you will get it back within 1 week if the parts are not on Backorder.
If u get frame damage from an accident like that you should not buy another Caddy or Any American cars.

Bottom line: There was no frame damage. So no reason to walk past any American dealer, really.
Damn, bob that really sucks, but like someone else said, eagle eye and iron fist. And you'll have the best feeling when you see the car on the lot looking like new again (well it still is new, but you get my point) good luck with everything

He's just expressing the same skepticism that I was about frame damage from a blow to the corner of the car. I don't think there's any and don't see how there could be. Then he takes it up a notch...he should have used some red text.
There's a real concern about parts on back order on the 2009 CTS-V, too. For example, it took me four months to find a spare set of stock wheels for winter tires, and then I had to buy from someone else who was moving to full-time aftermarket wheels. Caddy is strictly controlling production on this model so they don't have dealers with many on their lots.

Uhh, he's saying that if an AMERICAN car can get FRAME DAMAGE from a MINOR accident LIKE THAT, then maybe AMERICAN CAR COMPANIES (such as GENERAL MOTORS) don't make strong enough cars.
He wasn't saying that American cars suck. There was a big IF there.....
