Need your opinion...looking for some feedback
***EDIT*** 11/15 we've made some changes, and I wanted to get an idea of what you guys think. We've done a redesign as well as greatly improved our database and now have over 100 resellers working with us
www.streetperformance.com
So the company I work for now has developed this Year/Make/Model where consumers can find information on parts that fit their car...and eventually be connected with a reseller. Basically we are getting rid of the parts guy who says "well this may fit"...only to find out at 5 a.m. that it doesn't. All of our information comes from the manufacturer, so there is really no room for error.
Basically our goal is syndicating it with forums/sites/etc. We have launched on [on over 40 sites now
Well basically I'm looking for some feedback from you guys on what you think of the tool. I'd like for you to take a run through it and give me some opinions.
check it out on our site at

He has a lot of posts but you seem cool.
But really, i tried it and it works pretty fast. I noticed some others that have this feature can be slow in finding the selected cars/years.

F'er
Just curious, have you ever seen something like this on another site that doesn't actually SELL the product? (meaning, they aren't a retailer, etc). Because all the people I try to pitch this too say "well there are 100 companies that try to do this".
But I've yet to ever come across one that does.
Keep in mind....we don't SELL parts.

Not bad, its an interesting tool to use! I like the concept. My input would be to try and differentiate in any way possible to show that you are NOT just another one of those parts resellers. Unique website design, unique UI design for the tool on other sites, etc. Main streetperformance site right now looks good, but the layout and fonts used do make me think "parts reseller". Just

this is f'n hilarious. Just earlier today I was looking for an air filter for my honda civic. I googled it, and your site was one of the first ones I clicked on.

Works pretty good. It was fast. The only thing is there was no choice between trim, i.e. 4 cylinder vs 6 cylinder, or LX vs EX. I like the magnifying glass feature a lot. There's actually very clear images of the Magnaflow and Borla exhausts for my 03 Accord V6 which I haven't found to be the case on other sites. The only site that I can think of that does what yours does is shopping.yahoo.com or amazon.com. Sometimes if I just Google a car part those two come up with the listings which are on for sale on the actual seller website.

Ya, Amazon uses a lot of our Data. As I said in a post above, submodels will come eventually (328, 335.....LX, EX.....turbo/nonturbo, etc)

right now we have 880+ brands......working as best we can to get more up. But, we are a small company doing something many said was impossible. Keep in mind this shopping guide has only been around 8 months...and will be a work in progress for some time
Synth, you do a google search for parts and A LOT of the time we'll be the first to pop up (before even the manufacturer). We have something like 350K pages indexed with google. Over 1.3 million total parts in the database with another 4 million we want to get in.

We started doing Aces and Pies Data (AAIA) for manufacturers. Basically what we do is we take their parts, and organize them in a manner that refleces Aces (Application) and Pies (Parts). It's something the OE's have done for years, and SEMA is now encouraging aftermarket companies to do it as well (Sema endorses us to do it). This makes it easier for information to be passed along to distributors, etc....that way there is no mix up. It use to be that distributors had to make their own data, and often it wasn't correct.
We've been doing that for a few years, as well as some web development (we built Bilsteins site). After doing it for sometime we realized we had a bunch of information that the consumer should have too....hence where we started this Year/Make/Model search.....and have now also decided to connect them with resellers.
Originally Streetperformance.com and OUR other sites (dirtdirectory.com raceindustry.com 2wheelperformance.com) were directories so someone could find information about manufactures (who made what, etc)
Here is our main website: http://digitalperformance.com/
Working on funding should be very shortly (weeks) :fingerscrossed:

I like it. I'm not very computer savvy, but even I found it easy to navigate. I searched for parts of various cars and trucks that I own and found the selection to be quite good. From newer cars to the classic stuff. I agree with SuperTrooper that model differentiation may be an issue. For example, finding parts for a six-speed Accord coupe was difficult at times. On a whim, however, I looked for body bushings for an '86 Grand National, and there they were! Quite surprised! (I'm sure you're aware GM built GNs with several bushings omitted as their way of dealing with body twist issues)
Overall, it was impressive and something I would definitely use.

I don't know if it's in your budget, but you should bid graphic artists for a better design. The layout is good but the dark on light and inconsistant trim is hard on the eyes. It looks like the programmer moonlighted as a graphic artist.
Also, as a consumer, the Hot Parts, Hot Brands, Hot Categories and everything else on the homepage aside from the car selector is totally useless to me because I drive an Acura TSX I could care less about Mustang wheels and Dodge accesories. I would make the car selector front and center, beg the visitor to tell you what car they have, remember it with a cookie and then show them that same homepage with nothing but stuff for their car, and additionaly in the "Search By Catogory" menu put in parenthesis the total number of items offered in that category.

What your site needs is sponsorship from all your suppliers and a project car for you to build and show your customers....Ya know, something like a '66 Mustang Fastback....Namely mine!
