Need speeding ticket advice
Hey guys,
I got pulled over on I-95 in maryland going 83 in a 65. The fine is 90 bucks. What should i do? Fight it or pay the fine? Does anyone have any advice regarding how best to fight it? Also, does anyone know how many points this is going to result in and if my insurance is going to go up as a result?
Thanks for any info.

If you were driving 83 in a 65...pay the ticket.

That'd be good, if they would reduce the points. I don't want my insurance to go up. So should i plead not guilty? What to say? Anyone have any experience. This is my first speeding ticket ever.

Yup. I'd kill for a 90 dollar speeding ticket.

From personal and family experience, unless it's an out of state ticket, I always plead not guilty and go to court. Even if they don't reduce it, the worst you can do is waste a little of your time (and maybe the $6 in court feeS). Regardless of the outcome, the magistrate gets another conviction. As long as you were polite to the officer, dress professionally for the hearing, and are polite and respectful to the magistrate, you will more than likely get a lesser sentence. They will almost always help you with the points at least (especially if you've got a clean driving record). I'm not saying you have to lie or anything, just explain the situation (if you were passing, how much traffic was around, etc) and ask if there's anything he/she can do to help you out with the points.
From my experience, only one of my tickets did not get reduced or dropped. I think the officer from that particular ticket had something to prove or something. It was the first hearing where the officer actually brought my complete driving record with him and brought it up in the hearing (for the record, I'm not a bad driver but i do speed too often).
Either way, Good luck!

dont plead guilthy or not guilthy, its called NO CONTEST.
then take your driver ed classes to get rid of the point. 83 in a 65, you dont have much in your corner, not very arguable at all. 90 dollars is chump change, i got a $140 ticket in CA for going 48 in a 35.

Go for a reduction. Varies state-by-state, but here if the conviction is less than 10 mph over (i.e. 74 in a 65) there are no points and no insurance increase. You still pay the fine and costs. If you've got a clean record the DA/Asst DA will usually give the reduction.
You need to find out how it works in your state. Do they offer Driver's classes for reductions or dismissals? What are the points at various levels of speed (10 over, 15 over, 20 over)? etc.

The fine is probably not the issue. That's more than likely a 4 point ticket. You can go to court an try to fight it. Maybe they will reduce it. Or take the hit, pay the fine and then go to traffic school.
You can probably also get a lawyer to go in and argue your case. But it will cost you a lot.
Good luck.
