So...
I had a 2004 TSX, base, auto, very basic car (or so I thought). In Nov (2013) I traded it in for a 2014 Mazda 6.
I traded partially because of a good deal, partially because I had a newborn on the way and wanted a little larger vehicle, partially because of that new car itch we all get. Problem is I didn't do much research and I now have very bad buyers remorse. No heated seats, no HID, no manual transmission, no fun motor (I'm 28 and want to enjoy a fun car even though I have a newborn now), and I bought a first year vehicle which has some things that need to be worked out.
I wanted, really bad for a long time, a Mazdaspeed3. I found one, but I've already purchased the 6. So here is my dilemma...
A) Trade in 6 for speed3 (think with heart, not wallet)
B) Wait for Speed3 or Speed6 in future allowing me to pay down the car loan and no be so upside down...
C) Suck it up and enjoy the nice car, safe, reliable, practical.
I came here, and not the mazda forums because of course the mazdaspeedforum will tell me to get the speed3, the mazda 6 forum will tell me to keep the 6, I figured you guys might give me a more objective answer.
Some numbers.
Payoff on the 6 is $22,400
KBB on the 6 is $23,600 Private Party and $18,482 Dealer trade
2013 Speed3 is $22,700 asking
Just curious what you guys think my options may be...

Stick with the 6 for a while. Its a fantastic looking car, probably the best in class and the deficiencies you mentioned aren't really all that big a deal. Believe me, your newborn will be sucking up all your time and energy and you won't really be paying much attention to your car for a while anyway...
As a previous owner of a modified Gen2 MS3, I say stay with your 6.
As much as I love to tell you how fun my little hatch was, your newborn is much more important in your life at the moment.

Kids aside, the next Mazda3 is going to be a great looking car. Much better than the Gen2 car. The good news is that the 6 is a great looking car as well.
I'm in the same boat as you in that as much as I like my Focus ST, it's not really what I want. However, if I trade it in sometime in the next year, that money is going to go towards something that's essentially a lateral move. If I want to make the next jump up, I'm going to want to wait for a while and stock away more cash.
Keep the 6, the next Speed3 is probably two years away. Lots can change in that time and in the interim you're still driving a good new car.

Thanks for the responses. I had a similar sentiment towards the next MS6/MS3, I think it will be very nice, especially since Mazda is really trying for a comeback. Thanks for keeping me grounded and not committing financial suicide.
Side note: My son, Hammond, is doing good and turns 2 months old this wed. I keep him riding in style with his Recaro baby seat that matches the interior of the Mazda 6.
Thanks again, AZ, best auto forum I'm a member of...

if you really can't, then life is too short to drive a car that you really want to get rid of. It will only get worse.
It does not hurt to get a several quote from Carmax and your local used car dealer and see if they can somehow cover your loan on your 6, so you won't have any upside downs.
If the upside down is like $1000 or $2000. Well depends on your financial situation and how much you really want the MS3, it is just justifiable.
Besides IMO MS3 is more practical than the 6 in terms of space and etc...
But the most logical decision is still to keep the 6, but that never worked for me.

It's not like you're losing your ass on the deal. Get as much money out of the 6 and buy the 3 as low as you can. If you had some wits about it, you could save money on the deal.
I think both cars are relatively small for a newborn. If this is your only mode of baby transport, bigger the better.
Newborn is already here fellas, in fact yesterday was the 2 month old mark. To make matters worse, the local Honda dealer just got one in on trade, 2013 fully loaded with only 6,000 miles. I found out because when I opened google chrome the tab was still up, page refreshed and put it right in my face.
I just want them to swap me, lol...is it really that hard?

Don't swap. You'll buy the MS3 and then they'll announce the next one which will be exponentially better than this generation MS3 and you'll be kicking yourself.
It's not that the MS3 isn't a good car. It's just not good enough, IMO, to justify making the trade.
The next generation will (almost) always be better. But in the case of the Mazda3, I think the next Speed3 will be faster, lighter, better looking, better engineered, better assembled, and ultimately a much better car.
