need opinions and reliabilty info

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am buying a new car in the very near future and have tentatively narrowed it down to either the 2004 Volkswagon R32 or 2006 Infiniti g35 6speed manual.
The r32 is a great AWD of which only 5000 were shipped to U.S., so rare. 240hp n/a motor lots o potential

the G is 298 hp RWD and is much quicker, a little sexier, and def. much more luxurious.

What do you guys think?

And am i forgetting any good AWD's besides the obvious WRX's and EVO's?

I'm keeping the CL btw for a commuter...............

^ right back at you...

There are thousands and thousands of active topics and sometimes not all are responded to immediately. You also posted on a Saturday. Saturday and Sunday are typically slow on the site. Monday is also a very slow day... and yesterday was a holiday, meaning even less people were online. Plus, responding like that will get you no where...

You also posted a topic that has, in part, been discussed ad nauseum. Feel free to search for yourself as the G35 alone has been discussed hundreds of times on here. The R32 has been discussed as well.

The only AWD cars I have experience with are Audi's. We had an A4, now have an A6. Loved them both.

Your best bet is to search around for threads regarding reliability issues on either a VW or Infinity site. Here you'll get mostly opinions on which is more practical or nicer looking, not the cold hard facts that actual owners would give. But your asshat way of looking for responses will yield you this helpful info... :tonguefaw

If you're worried about snow, or do alot of skiing/snowboarding then get the awd vw.. If you are looking for something with a performance orientation, then the G35 might fit the bill...

What are you looking to do with the car ??

Legacy GT is also a nice AWD choice...

The biggest question with these choices you're facing is AWD vs. RWD. The VW will be much more practical but the G offers more but will ask you to sacrafice some. Winter driving is HORRIBLE in the G. I had to take the Subway to work today becasue of 1 inch of snow. Of course snow tires would help, but RWD and a manual don't do well together. The stock wheels are staggard so there is no rotating tires either(at least not easily) so be ready for that expense. Most people just get a wintersetup and a summer one. Also the manuals are notorious for burning oil so keep an eye out for that although I'm not certain what you would look for.
If you can deal with not driving during snow and keep the Acura for that I'd say go for the G. The car is just so much fun. I think I'm stuck on RWD. Even after two years I'm always looking for an opportunity to Fishtail. I'm biased of course and the R32 is nice but I'm say go with the G.

thanks for hte info/help guys... I think I'm leaning heavily towards an R, now I'm just having a tough time finding this car around here (WA) with the miles, price combo I know is out there. I may have to fly and buy. I've seen postings online for $18k and under for about 40,000 miles, which is where I would LIKE to be in areas like Illinios, Texas, Colorodao, etc. Might be worth a long drive home.
