Need an opinion - Interior trim choices
Looking for opinion on interior TRIM color for a 335i.
Exterior is Deep Sea Blue
Interior is Saddle Tan
Will be an auto so the small area between the shifter and the center console/armrest will also be done in the trim material around the iDrive knob.
Choices are:
Aluminum

Light Burl Walnut

Dark Burl Walnut

Bamboo Anthracite

I would go with the aluminum or bamboo, though I think the aluminum is much more modern looking on the 3 Series. That said, the bamboo looks great, just not sure if I would go with that for a Saddle interior. The faux wood (or is it real?) definitely ages the E46 too much for my liking.
Are you going for the M-Sport package as well? 6-speed or auto?

I should add that saddle tan seems to be one of the few interior colors for which BMW leaves the door tops black instead of matching it to the color of the interior. Dunno why but it's annoying.

damn, love the M-Sport interior and exterior!
But the Audi dealership pissed him off. :insertmadpuppypic:
Then it was the Merc E coupe.
Now it's the 3, apparently.

The Bamboo that everyone seems to like reminds me of the MDX wood trim that many people dislike. I like the dark burl myself, I feel it goes with that interior very nicely. The pic of the Light Burl isn't showing up for me.
Not sure if you are leasing or buying but if you are buying I would go with something more traditional to keep your resale value up, if you are leasing, go nuts resale value will be BMW's problem not yours.

This is why BMW offers so many options. Everyone is different.
Bamboo wont hurt resale, hes buying a sporty coupe after all and the dark bamboo color trim is well liked on the BMW forums.
Saddle with poplar trim that i had is by far my favorite interior combo i ever had. I wished they offered it in the M3.
Dark or light wood in a BMW coupe seems wrong. IMO

In that case, get what you like regardless of what others think. That's one of the nice things about leases, you can get one of the flash in the pan colors (like bright yellow or rusty orange) and not care if it's all played out and undesirable when it's time to replace it.
Are you going to have enough room in the new coupe to keep the illegals or are they staying with the TSX?

Well, I have to be honest. Going into this, I was leaning toward the aluminum. I didn't like two tones of darker brown and the black together.
Having said that, I have been looking more and more at the bamboo and find it very acceptable as well, even so much as to possibly take the #1 spot for me. The aluminum "pops" more and lightens up an already dark interior, but the GIANT stretch of it across the passenger dash area is fugly to me, as is the huge piece of it rear of the shifter on the automatic.
In the end, I am now leaning heavily toward the bamboo.
I should add that my current TSX has the light tan interior with the burl wood trim and black exterior, so a slight change will be nice.
Thanks everyone!

Totally agree. If it was a sedan, the dark or light wood maybe ok. But I'd still go for bamboo.
For me, the red interior with gray poplar wood trim is my favorite combo. However the wife didn't want red, so we got black interior with gray poplar wood trim.
