Need input: Embarassing mistake at the dealership

Hey guys,

While buying my new car, my emotions got the best of me. I let my guard down and agreed to the "Super Polysteel" environmental paint protection system. Now that the high from getting my new car has worn off, I'm wondering if I can still get out of this.

I did sign an agreement when I took delivery, but have not yet made the appointment to have it applied. There is nothing in the fine prints that states cencellation/refund policy prior to application of the PolySteel.

I feel dumb enough as it is, so go easy

If it hasn't been applied yet, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to cancel it. Go back to the dealer and tell them you changed your mind and decided against it.

How much was it anyways?

Call them or better yet go to the dealership and talk to them.

Dont they tend to roll in those add-ons into the car loan? So if you already signed the papers then not sure how easily they can refund you?

But yes, calling them would be the best route.

This was also part of my concern, but I put a decent down payment on it and at worst I'll ask to apply the funds to aftermarket accessories like a cargo mat instead.

The way I see it, since it was added on during financing, not only has the service not been tendered, but it also does not impact the actual transaction of the car. They won't be able to say "Well we gave you a good deal on the car as a package deal." From a customer satisfaction perspective, they shouldn't have any qualms about my request. I'll update the thread since it's kind of a unique situation.

I got a 2015 Mazda CX-5 Touring... my first non-Acura in roughly 10 years. I took my CL-S from 108K to 188K in 6 years but the constant tranny concerns just wore me down. This is my first brand new car and I'm stoked.

And thanks for the inputs everyone. And a good 6 years of support, although I stopped working on the car and frequenting the forum. Lots of turnover on 2GCL section.

If you financed those add-ons and the dealer is going to refund this to you, you may get a check made out to you and the bank that holds the loan. Assuming this is the case you will likely have to endorse the check and send to the bank. The bank will deduct this from your loan.
Have had this happen to us in the past when we didn't think we could get a Honda extended warranty and went with 3rd party offered by used car dealer. We were able to get Honda warranty through local Honda dealer.
Your situation may be different but wanted to pass along our real world experience.

How much is your time worth?

$377 may just be a life experience or if it's a good deal of money to you then do what you can to get your money back.

Shouldn't be a big deal, $377 on principle is a lot for basically nothing. Gf did a similar thing and the dealer sent her a check which she sent to the loan holder. She made one phone call I think, plus mailed the check.

Can't imagine he is making $377 an hour much less in 5-10 mins.

My mom got that stupid coating on her new m3 without my permission. Her car is white. Now there is like a layer over the paint that has turned yellow. It is gonna be a pain to remove it and get it looking new again.

Anyone else have negative experience with these coatings?
