Need Info On 2000 BMW 740il

Hey, My dads looking into buying a used (private party) 2000 BMW 740il. Does anyone know any info about this year and model or know where I could find some info. I looked for a BMW message board like ours but couldnt find anything.

The info im looking for is like mechanical problems and issues that he would need to know about. (like our cars and the tranny problems) That sort of info but for the BMW...

Can anyone help me out? Thanks...

I don't know much about problems with them

But my father had one for 18,000 miles and loved it. It was such a smooth riding car. My doctor still drives his 2000 740il so I'm assuming his has been fine.

I do know some guy came into one of my dads shops with a 2000 740 with a blown engine. He ended up getting it fixed, god knows why. That was a nice $10K (parts & Labor) down the drain.

I love the accelerator pedal sticking story

FIrst off the dude is 90, second since when has a car with a sticky pedal also shifted from reverse to foward, let alone not strip the gears in the tranny doing so.

i got a 2001 il sport. the radiators have problems around 45k~60k other than that the car is bullet proof. The engine is real strong and i have about 46k and no problems @ all. i get about 18mpg city and 20 highway. If he gets it w/ the navi you can go to bmwnav.com and upgrade to a 16X9 navi and also firmware for the navi is available. The seats are super comfortable too. The only reason why I stuck w/ a 2001 vs. 2000 is because the bottom skirts, bumper isn't painted body color on all 2000's. Also the Sport on the IL was only available on the 01's. The sports drives deff better than the non sports.

PM me for more info or go to www.roadfly.org (forum format sux but has the biggest # of E38 7 series owners. )

So, did your dad buy the car? If so, is he happy with it? What was the price?

I heard bad things about them. I was thinking about one and they actually sold for cheaper than the 540i/6 speeds w/ sport package.
