My dad has one of these vans, and has been having problems shifting it out of park. There is some issue within the steering column that makes the shifter lock, but you can eventually jiggle it and it will allow you to shift into gear. Today, he jiggled it and broke the gear selector off. Is anybody familiar with GM truck steering colums? If so is there a way to shift without the selector, and a way to bypass the shift lock? He's currently stranded at the moment waiting for a towtruck.
