Need help going to buy a car (tips?)
I am 20 years old, and I will most likely be going with JUST my mom since she will probally cosign. Should I get a male family friend to come, or does it not matter? My main concern is the dealership trying to take advantage of my mom, and me for being young.
I am looking at most likely a 2006 2dr Accord Coupe. I am pretty sure I am going to lease it.
What are the best ways to work out a deal ? Should I have printed documents with me? Do I negotiate a price first, and then worry about payments? Anyone have an accord on here, and can tell me what they are paying?
Basically I just want to know how to get the best deal possible, and not get taken advantage of for being young (and having a women with me) I know it sounds discriminatory, but I'm pretty sure car salesmen still try to take advantage, no?

My dad and mom came along back four years ago. My dad had already gotten the full details over the phone, and was watching to make sure they didn't pull anything.
I would say that your worries may be well-founded.

read through this site completely!

Especially the parts about the scams dealers try to pull and how to avoid them. The formatting of the site sucks but it contains really good info! It helped me buy my car and also made me aware of the tricks they try to pull.
Remember, read through "top 10 dealer scams"...i almost had one pulled on me but I knew better from this site.

Do a ton of research so that you can basically own any dealer that tried to pull anything on you. Most dealers don't know shit, but the problem is they know more than most that walk in the place. Your on this site so your an enthusist, make sure you know more than the dealer before walking in there.

and why lease? leasing really sucks.

Leasing is not for everyone, but for someone who wants to get a new car every 2-3 years, and drives under 15k miles a year, leasing is the best option.
Do your research before you make such claims-there are MANY instances on this site where it has been proven that leasing is the better option.
r0dxx-a good place to start is edmunds.com They can give you a general idea of what the car you're looking at getting is going for in your area.
Besides that, you should be able to get a fair amount off of sticker-it is not a brand new model and there is nothing special about it-i.e. it is not a limited production etc. So, just go in and find the one you want. Work out a price that you are willing to pay and sign.
Don't forget, if the deal is not to your liking-WALK OUT!! This is the biggest mistake people make-you have to control your emotions and realize that if you don;t get the car right now, it is not going to kill you.

Read through the numbers and ask questions and don't take BS answers. They screwed up the last contract twice when I was getting my last car.
Any manufacturer's site has a payment calculator. Some of them even show purchase vs. lease comparisons.
