Ok. I've been giving it some thought.
I think I'm going to put the 2009-2010 TSX as my first choice.
Here's why.
It gets the same, if not, better MPG than my Optima.
Premium is only *recommended*.
Not many mechanical issues reported.
Nav is not a touchscreen.
Cup holders are to the right of gear shift and not right behind it (stupid, I know)
Interior is almost the same as the RDX.
Engine sounds like the RDX, minus the turbo.
Great handling.
Doesn't sit too low like the TL.
Smaller sedan.
Has a backup camera.
I4 revs only about 2,400 RPM at 77 mph, same as my 6AT Optima, so gearing is better, and 5AT shouldn't gear hunt like my 6AT does.
So it seems I could get one for around $6.5-8K used with about 125-150K miles if I look hard.
^^^^^^ Now this worries me, A LOT! ^^^^^^
When I bought this car six months ago, it was valued at $7,100. Now it's only $6,200. Hmmm....
It was discounted because it needed tires and had some damage, but I took care of almost all of it, still have a few kinks, but OMG at that drop.
I've put 7K miles on it since buying it back in late May 2018. I immediately had the tires replaced, one TPMS sensor replaced, brake job on all four axles, MAP sensor replaced, two brand new headlights, new grille from SX and a new Key fob from dealer.
That's about $3K of repairs right there.
I'm freaking out that I just dumped $3K of non-refundable expenses into a rapidly depreciating car.
I know car depreciate, but damn, my 8 year old Kia is worth about as much as a 13 year old Honda with the same milage.
I plan to keep the car for just under a year. Hopefully, I'll be able to save or finance a small loan by then. But I'm afraid as soon as it hits 200K miles it will be worth literally nothing.
This happened with the RDX, but I'm OK with that because we're just going to eventually put 400K miles on it then I'm going to restore it.
But I want an Acura still. I really want a more vintage Acura but I need nav and backup camera in my daily because I'm always getting myself lost by driving new roads. My phone's Google maps just doesn't cut it for me! I perfer an in-dash nav this is joystick controlled.
I wish I had just kept my TL. Used the 3K for a TB/WP job and fixed my two dents, windshield and bought Gatr's wheels he's selling.
The Optima's a great car, but it's too damn plebeian for me. It reminds me too much of a Toyota Camry.
Sorry guys!

I forgot to add excellent condition and premium pakage to it, here's the true value, I feel a little better.
Also, I think I'm spoiled because when I traded my Camry for the TL, he gave me $7200, I think he gave me resale, not trade value.

Yup! I knew it!
I knew that numb ass steering would cause me hell one day. Blew a tire on a curb at 50 mph.
I don't know if it's the tire or the wheel, or if I just broke the seal on the tire, but it went flat after about a mile, and that's that. I'm on the donut spare now, also, to have it checked, I have to bring it to my tore shop where my insurance is, in Brookhaven, almost a 3 hour drive from Gulfport, at 70 mph....

I glanced down at my climate control or radio for 0.5 seconds, then looked back up to see that I had drifted too far to the right, and before I could correct it, I side swipped the curb where it resumed after an intersection. I head a loud bang, like hitting a pot hole, then, about 10-15 seconds later, I noticed TPMS was on. My tire felt OK, so my initial though was that the impact killed the sensor. I noticed my front end starting to sag down about a mile later, so I pulled into a parking lot and as I was pulling into the parking space, I heard the tire making that flat noise.
I've been under the weather so that's fogging my judgement a little too. But I cannot feel the road through the steering and I can wander back and forth as if I'm distracted even when I'm not. I knew this would happen one day.
Now I have to drive the damn thing 150+ miles gping 49 mph with my hazzard lights on to my tire shop 1/2 accross the state.

So it appears that target fixation is when you stare at something for so long it kind of disappears, in a way. I get that.
I had a good 50+ feet to corrent the steering, IDK, my brain told me not to worry about it and that I wouldnt hit anything.
Either way, this EPS system has caused me hell before. If I were in the RDX, this would have never happened.

Target fixation is something they teach you when riding a motorcycle, or even cars too I believe (it's been a while). Basically, don't stare at an accident or something on the shoulder as you're driving by it, because your hands follow your eyes without you thinking.
I've taken a defensive driving course and gotten instruction from race drivers and they all told me the same thing - look at where you want to go, your hands will do the rest.
I both heard and saw videos of people rubbernecking at an accident or someone getting ticketed on a shoulder, and the cop either gets nicked by the side mirror or almost run over. Probably one reason why they usually approach from the passenger side.

I used to do a lot (by my standards, not our resident cycling gurus) of cycling, having 1/4" of contact patch, a small debris or hole can have quite an effect. Look where you want to go & don't focus on something you don't want to hit.

I've never heard this term before nor have I ever ridden a bike. I don't have much interest in bikes. But I do not think this is the phenomenon I experienced. I was looking mainly straight ahead. I glanced down, then back up, without my hands, the wheel changed trajectory enough to push me toward the curb without me feeling the wheel move, because of the vagueness. I saw the curb coming, but my brain told me I'd miss it. It was like standing in front of a bus, I couldn't think to move. Then, I was in denial that I even hit anything for atleast 10-20 seconds. Then, when my TPMS light came on, I thought I had a dead battery or error in the TPMS.
I honestly did not think I hit a curb and busted my tire for atleast a full minute.

None that will take my insurance. In fact, my old shop changed companies last year, so I will be going to a shop the town south, maybe 130 miles away. Otherwise, I'll have to pay $200 fir another new tire, and I'm not dumping any more money into a car I plan to get rid of soon (eventually).
#141
How much is your deductible? And how can the shop say they don't take your insurance? You call your insurance, tell them what happened, they send out an adjuster, they cut you a check, and you get the car fixed.
What insurance company are you with? If they cover you for taking your eyes off the road and hitting a curb, I need to switch to them.

It's more of a warranty, I guess.
It is for full replacement for the first 12 months, then prorated after that. I've had my tires for about 9 months.
But it only works at a small tire chain operating stores in central/southwest Mississippi, I'm on the coast temporarily.

So I had left my wheel up there Tuesday for them to mount/balance the tire when it arrived yesterday. Today, I went and had my new tire and wheel reinstalled. They had trouble getting two of the TPMS sensors to pair up, but they got it after a few minutes.
Total cost was about $32.00... Tire is free minus the cost of inflation. In this case, about $3.00... Plus disposal and mount/balancing fee... Either way, it saved me about $200.00...
Total trip distance was about 300 miles, eash day. So, about 600 miles between Tuesday and Thursday...

Some, but it's about the principal. I specifically purchased this coverage expecting that this could happen one day.
Also, it's a reason to go to where I lived for two years Stopped at my favorite restaurant before I came back
The ride up there definitely scratched an itch for me. That, and I don't trust (know) anyone on the coast.
I barley even shop/eat on the coast anymore. Always running up into the Mississippi Pine Belt region, or The Louisiana Northshore.

First. I have to move, switch to other location closer for work, get detailing supplies, fix the swirls, take pics of before and after (for detailing references) then find a 2007 AV6 in Carbon Bronze with >150K miles for as close to an even trade as possible.
Most small lots don't care about minor condition issues. When I traded the TL, he drove it and looked at it for 5 mins. before agreeing on our pre discussed quote.
It's a work in progress thing, but thanks for the encouragement!

I wouldn't even go too nuts trying to correct those swirls...that would be a full 2 day detail, I bet.
Just do it when there isn't direct sunlight. Most people in the market for a used Kia probably won't
be too keen on paint being perfect anyway.
Shit...what years are those? With such specific things you might have to travel a bit to get it.
Is the Kia paid off?

I was just going to do a two stage paint correction and fix like 60% of it.
The Kia is paid off. I owe nothing, I just can't get rid of it until I have another car nor can I take a low ball trade offer either.
I got $7200 for a 10 year old Camry, and $5300 for a 10 year old TL. Those were both at private lots.
I drove a cosmetically challenged 2007 AV6 in white a few months ago at a Ford dealer. Just for fun, I got a trade appraisal and it was $1000.
We had a smart off for an hour until I left.
As far as specifics go, I can find the car I want.
I've found several but the timing was never right.
I know I could get any 2006 or 2007 V6 but I've always gravitated to a few color combos.
Carbon Bronze with the Biege interior
Alabaster Silver with the Black interior
And sometimes Graphite Pearl with the Gray interior.
I know it may require a slight hunt, but I'm sure I could pull it off easily.

Good luck with your search. It's gonna be tough since that gen Accord has already entered the "handed down to daughters going off to college" phase.
How much is the Kia worth?

As for the Accord. I've found many over the years and they've been clean.
When I read comments like that it makes my stomach sink. Like I waited too long or something and that's my greatest fear in finding one. A 2007 car isn't old, just not very new.

Pretty much anytime I look I find one.
This car would do right here.
Fully loaded, one owner, no big scratches or tears in seats and on 114K miles!
