My Sister's New Car
Here it is....the 2010 Subaru Forester 2.5 Premium in Spark Silver. I've only driven it three times and that was just a few miles from the house so I don't have a full verdict but here is what I like and dislike about this car.
Comfortable seats, airy interior with big glass space, road noise is well-muffled, easy to use controls, good fit and finish, great materials quality.
:thumbsdow Only adequate power, typical boxer engine harshness, no 5th gear on the automatic, awful stereo quality.
It also has the world's largest sunroof.

Seriously, the exterior won't turn any heads and the interior isn't bad - except for that '80s console. For a value small SUV, it is ok. Congrats to your sister and please don't show her this thread.

Yeah if you all thought Acura had a lackluster A/T transmission, then Subaru and Volvo would be unmentionables. Not only do their A/T trannies account for more drivetrain loss than your traditional transmission they also have 5 or less gears.

Have test driven it multiple times over the past few years. You'd definitely need at least the turbo for it to even feel adequate...but even then, it definitely needs some more power and a new transmission. It has GREAT visibility all around though.
Have test driven the new Outback... that, on the other hand: Great power, nice interior, fun to drive, great turning radius...

No turbo, typical boxer engine harshness yes but it grows on you, if not then that's unfortunate , she should've gotten the manual like wonderlust and your sister probably could care less about the stereo as long as she can blast her music in something that she has for her own now.
Wonderlust is disappoint.

Why are people so surprised at 4AT? Subaru uses it across their whole line up.
Anyways this is a great little SUV. I have no idea why anyone buys those stupid CR-Vs or RAV-4s over these. I mean if your getting an SUV then get one with a proper AWD system

This car probably can last couple decade, there doesn't seem to be anything susceptible to breaking. Look at the odometer display, it looks like those on calculators..... And the cloth seats, it looks it could withstand a dog fight and still wouldn't break a sweat in tearing
Congrats to your sister, it'll last her for a long long time.

werd on the stereo and seats.
someone in my family picked up an outback. i thought the stereo had a defect it was so bad. i was almost insulted by the quality of the stereo - by far the worst ive personally come across in a new to newish car. you could barely make out song vocals if its turned up.
buru cloth seats are great for big dogs. the material seems to be as inpenetrable as the seat belts.

My parents bought one of those last year after looking at the RAV4 and CR-V. Even though they could afford more, they are strictly point A to point B type of car owners, and wanted AWD.
I did get them exhaust tip covers, homelink/dimming rear view mirror, and the tweeter speakers which helped.
I think it drives fine, especially for its intended audience, much like a Camry. I think they get 26 MPG.

Has your sister given a ride in the Subaru yet to her flannel wearing female 'friend' with the lip piercing and the 'angry at the world' attitude?
Not that there is anything wrong with that....

Not everyone who buys an SUV needs AWD. Some people buy it for the utility part of SUV... car-like ride with extra space and utility.

...looks like the love child of a Mitsubishi Outlander and a BMW X3. Very generic looking...like Wal-Mart's Great Value peanut butter. You know, I have a Subaru dealership just up the highway from my house and I NEVER see any Subarus in the immediate area....NEVER. Congrats to your sister, though...
