Yeah. That's actually my first choice, but it does add up since I want to pick up Lower Control Arms as well.

We'll see! Just so very freaking excited about everything. haha

I'm sure you are too!

How are you liking the car?

I know exactly how you feel.

My main gripe right now is the clutch catch point. My coworker has an FR-S and he mentioned the shifting being weird. Now that I have the car I see what he's talking about, and I'm not the only one. My rev-matched downshifts are smoother than my upshifts

Your Grimmspeed MC brace really got me curious. I will probably get one too, but not until the pads break in. Then I'll stand on the pedal and see if it bothers me. It probably will on the track, but for now I'm taking it easy. Still a ton of fun to drive!! So easy to park.

The catch point was certainly a thing to get used to in the beginning. I think there's quick fix you can do on the pedal or something. I got over it and didn't really think about it, but if it bothers you too much, you should search on that adjustment.

The MCB is a GREAT upgrade. The pedal feel before was pretty good too, but now it's so much firmer with the brace on. When braking hard, the the brake feel and response is much, much more crisp and instant. It's like $88 new.. it's a no-brainer. haha

Have fun man! Keep us posted!

There's actually another package that goes along with this hasn't come in yet

I told myself that it's not going on the car until I get some other stuff taken care of though...

This is the box for KW V3. Seems pretty similar to that box.

Maybe he's waiting to pick up the wheels and get them on together!?

And I don't know how people drive on dropped car to be honest. So, I put my front lip on Saturday. The lip is about 1-1.5" deep from the bottom of the front bumper. I scrape it a lot. Not too badly but the bottom of the lip does touch the ground pretty often. Hate how I have to be extremely careful going in and out of driveways.

Its easy enough bottoming out at stock height so I have no idea how guys driving slammed do it. Plus 1"-1.5" looks perfect on the car.

Nice guesses guys, but here's what I put on! Went on a nice cruise on highway 9, very nice twisty roads. The chassis is so good! I'm normally a very smooth driver, and we didn't push it hard, but traction control still kicked in a couple of times. Reinforces the fact that these tires are garbage for grip.

Got JDM red TOM's tail lights. Love the way it looks, as it matches the "boomerang" or "horse shoe" in the front headlights as some twin owners call it.

That will likely be my next mod, too. Cheap, just time consuming. Luckily I picked up soldering in one of my old jobs.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53111

From the factory, the LED strips above the fogs light up for DRLs. But the boomerangs don't light up along with them. Thanks, Subaru! I could just drive around with parking lights on, but the sidemarkers will be on too, and interior lights will dim. This is with the boomerangs linked to the DRLs:

Locals will know the road, but here's highway 9:

Highly recommended. I've only driven on this road once, a looooong time ago, in a stock suspension Civic with worn out struts. MUCH more enjoyable this time around!

Heheh, been a while since I had a car this low. My buddy parked first, and he didn't scrape on anything, so I made sure not to pull up farther than he did

I park like a scared old Asian woman. There's usually about a foot between my front bumper and the curb. Luckily, our cars are really short.

I usually try to park at the end of parking lots away from bumpers and curbs. My girlfriend hates it.

Try to look at the reflection from the car next to you to see where the rock is.

i started driving lowered cars + bodykit since HS, so i have developed a parking distance phobia till this day that doesn't matter if i am driving or the passenger if someone parks too close to the curbs, i would have anxiety attack. I usually would tell the driver to STOP, that is close enough even if car is a SUV.

that and i still go sideways (not as dramatic as before) when i leave my driveway even though my previous 3 cars have been 4x4.

Just rolled over 1,000 miles today. Break-in period is over!

Made sure to hit redline on the way home. Chirped the tires... no surprise though, the OEM Prius tires will chirp at 4k RPM

Same day, this happened at dinner:

My next mod will probably be this... beefy as hell for a strut brace. I have always been skeptical of these, but being a MacPherson front, people do notice a difference. Mainly in ride harshness, and steering feel. May also get delrin steering rack bushings to further tighten it up just a bit.

It includes the popular brake master cylinder brace, which is normally around $80+

Stock bushing (softer than a limp biscuit) compared to the old aluminum one by Turn in Concepts:

I've mentioned this before - one of my favorites as far as "steering feel" goes is a manual P/S rack Miata. The 86 is a tad light, but very nice as far as a power rack goes. What's most surprising is it's electric assist... BUT the module is up near the column, so the rack itself is manual.

Again, steering is fine but I know it can be better. People that get both rack bushings and a strut brace say it's much better than stock. Stock is nearly as responsive as an S2000 - which has one of the faster racks in a street car that I've tried. The bushings should eliminate the small dead zone, and add a bit more communication.

In the past month, I've done a few minor things that completely changed the nature of the car. I'd highly recommend it to any of you guys who have an 86. Those of you who drive manuals may possibly be interested too. I would sooner sell my car than revert it back to stock and drive like that again.

Any of you have driven a newer manual transmission car, and it just felt weird to you despite driving stick for years/decades? It may have a clutch delay valve, or what I removed lately - a clutch helper spring.

For my 86 guys:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35621

Clutch pedal assembly

Piece of useless shit removed

The clutch pedal articulates in an arc... helper spring compresses, providing resistance at top of pedal travel. After a short threshold, it begins to elongate... instead helping to push the pedal into the stop.

Clutch helper springs are a new development to me... apparently a lot of newer cars have them. It makes the pedal feel vague and nonlinear. With it out, I know exactly where engagement is at now.

One of my favorite mods was completely free, and even resulted in weight reduction!

I changed out the centering springs on the shifter and replaced the fluid with Pentosin MTF2. You BMW guys might know about that... makes cold shifting MUCH smoother. I liken it to the GM Synchromesh I had in my Integra and Camaro.

Centering springs

The fatter spring is no thicker than a #2 pencil, but these tiny things made a huge difference. Every gear snaps into place without hesitation - it's like they're mechanically guided into the gates. I now push straight up or down for 2-3 or 5-4 shifts. They are a huge pain in the ass to install, but completely worth it.

There are endless complaints about the clutch/shifting action on the twins. I also adjusted the pedal height - the travel was too long. I initially attributed my jerky shifting to my rustiness, but now I feel like the car is completely different with about $100 worth of mods. Now my rev-matched downshifts are so fucking sweet and accurate that I cum a single drop or two every time I do it. I initially had a short shifter on my wish list, but now I LOVE the shifter and clutch.

Other mods I did: LEDs on all exterior bulbs - license plate, fogs, turn signals. Kept the interior bulbs stock for the warmer, easier on the eyes light.

The car is SUCH a pleasure to drive now. Not just in corners, but even in a straight line now. I can't overstate how much I enjoy the changes I did. But the money pit still hungers.

Went to a big Toyobaru meet a week ago. Around 100 people showed up! I'd never been part of a big car meet caravan before, it was a lot of fun.

Attachment 106118

got a chance to see the infamous Ratchet Bunny up close. This is local shop Speed Element's car. Rocket Bunny being the widebody kit, but this thing has some serious $$$ pumped into it. The entire interior is done up too - Bride seats and upholstery throughtout... crazy thing is, this gets daily driven

Other changes... could not stand some of the silver interior pieces. I got black trim pieces for the Australian market GT86. Left some silver for contrast. Plasti dipped the dash panel... it turned out really good in person, I've gotten compliments on it. Tucked away the USB/AUX port in the glovebox.

Much better!

At the meet, I got to meet the guys from Vishnu Tuning and CounterSpace Garage. Vishnu was behind the PROcede tunes for BMWs and other cars... CSG may sound familiar if you have an S2000. I'd recommend them to anyone. Ended up walking away from the meet with an OpenFlash Tablet, a nice tuning and data logging tool. Ordered a set of Project Mu HC+800 pads and Motul RBF600 from CSG. Will be going to an autocross next sunday, and hopefully a track in the near future! Laguna Seca

Factory ECU pulls timing on 91 octane (highest you can get around here). But with a map reflash, it drastically improves driveability and is a nice bump in power. I flashed that map, then ran it til my tank got empty in 4 days. Then I tried the E85 map. HORY SHET!

Stock dyno vs. catless header, E85 + tune

The numbers aren't all that impressive. But the relatively change is, considering this is an N/A 4-cylinder. There is an adjustment in valve timing to get rid of the torque valley, resulting in extra induction and valvetrain noise. In other words, VTEC SOUND

Very similar to a COBB Accessport. Free off-the-shelf tunes! The process was very easy. The tablet guides you through it all. Data logging as well. EL = equal length header, UEL = unequal length header

Project Mu pads and Motul fluid came in. Gonna be overkill for cone dodging, but a track day is in my future sometime. Pads are very easy to change on this car. Bedding these babies in tonight.

Progress? I prefer the term "addiction"

I can't wait to try them out. May be butt dyno/placebo but I already felt the pads are easier to modulate even at low speeds.

You should invest in an Openflash Tablet! The car ran so much better on 91 after the tune. Then with E85, I had four people in the car, going up an incline at 2.5-3k RPMs... no problem. Engine runs very smoothly. Pulls hard to redline. Everyone says this is the biggest bang for your buck mod for power, and I believe it.

E85 tune makes the stock tune look like shit. I also started putting in TC-W3 2-stroke oil for the crickets, they're much quieter now. They also occur 1/5th as often.
