The new 5-Series looks great- I saw one in the parking garage a few months ago here at school and quite liked it (Tasman Green 535i w/ sport package, exactly how I would spec my own if someone were giving me a new 5-Series)
Personally though I'd go Certified Pre-Owned. Prices on CPO 535s and 528s are fairly reasonable, relative to the initial price of the car.
