We're just looking out for you. If you don't care about credit and value.....I would be scared to see how your future pans out.

why not do 5years? less interest to pay for 20k for 5 years would be about 400/month

well good luck with that bro! But remember your " planning", you can plan plan plan all you want, but reality is, shit happens. Never set your self up for failure. My 2 cousins who moved out here to the DC area, to take 2 really good decent paying jobs.......one was layed off and the other one fired. Now jobless. All these guys are saying, is its going to be a fun ride for sure, but just make sure you know what your doing. I'm 26 and the thought of buying a 48k car is insane. I just bought a house that i got on forclosure, for well under what its worth, great investment. Would i love to have a z06 or big old truck right now? Yep. Will i do it, no. Again congrats on your new car, just dont " PLAN" on everything working out perfectly, never does my friend. We just don't want to see you in 6months saying

" i'm giving blow jobs for $50 to pay my car payment because i lost my job" or somthing like that lol..J/K.....

You know when i was 20 now that i think about it, i had 3 cars. One of which was a 1998 WS-6 that i bought because i sold my last one, and missed it. It sat in my driveway and over 3 years i put 2kmiles on it. I decided that the money in my bank was better than the car in my drivway, and when i got out of the USMC, i needed that money and it got me through some rough times.

Congrats bro.
I wish I could say I could afford an M3 at 21.

....well....if I buckle down and get over being a fat pussy and start the business I've been meaning to for the past year and a half, maybe I can......

I think home ownership is on my list first though.

No doubt, I'd love to have an M3 in the garage. But for me, my responsibilities are to my wife and kids (OP: I know you are young and single), so the common sense test says (for me) only to buy what I can pay in cash for. No payments. Without a car payment, the savings grow pretty nicely.

Now, how much warranty do you get, if any? A flat tire will run you $200 - $400 without wheel damage. Oil changes are about $80 - $140 (I don't know if the M3 takes 8 quarts or uses a special oil). It's this area where the car can completely trash your savings or spending money.

Congrats on the car anyway. Hope it works out for you.

Yes, it's an M3. Beautiful car.

However, car poor FTL. Get yourself some good assets and start making real money. Then you can work only one job (maybe even have a career) and only put in 40-50 hours per week. Then you can own your own home and buy stuff like this in cash while still building your equity with your other investments.

Since you joined the board you've been all over the place. First you look for advice, then you ignore it, then you go completely opposite. Pick a direction, and go with it

Like everyone else.....its not a smart financial move.
To each his own.
I pay $198 for my TL, which in NY is considered fairly decent. The 4 people I know that purchased M3's were surprised at how little the insurance jump was. I would guess OP will be around $250 a month.

I do agree it may not be the best financial decision for the OP to make but owning a home in this area would require at least 150k down to have a decent monthly payment, if not more as its incredibly overpriced for a 2br crap hole.

^yea exactly what i was thinking, the area where i live in is very expensive to own a house and , i rather keep saving for a couple more years to make sure i have a good base to stand on, and putting down 28 on the m3 wont be that bad, ill make it back from selling my tl to my brother and i wont even notice having to pay off the 20k for the few years, while still saving up to my ultimate goal, and have a m3 while doing so wont be as bad either

Nice looking ride, enjoy it. While I understand where the others are coming from, you are only young once and have to make dumb decisions yourself (not saying it is dumb but you get the idea).

Congrats and I hope to own one some day too!

Edit - Hit up the detailing forum and get tips on cleaning up those wheel wells

How did you get it for $48,200 when the bidding ended at $49,000?

i hope everything else goes ok and i get it by next week

That doesn't sound kosher at all. I hope this deal doesn't go south on you. Again, why in god's name would you spend $50k on a picture?

^i called him and found out everything about the car, i didnt just look at the picture and he said if i didnt like it when i get it, i can return it and they would pay the shipping, thats how confident they seem, the guy owns his own dealership ,he was jsut trying to sell that car for a freind, so he seems ligit enough

i hope all goes well and i dont have to regret this

If you are comfortable with those 2 statements, than I guess that's fine. There is no "return if you don't like it" for a $50k BMW. You seem pretty confident. How did you pay the deposit?

It does, now that only verbals have been exchanged. For that much coin, I would be on a flight to that guys shop to see the car myself.
