Nah, I don't think its that. Like I said in one of my previous posts, just a young attention whore with something to prove. Getting an M3 and rolling thru the "mean" streets of South Ozone Park must be quite a thrill for a youngster.

I live in Dave's neighborhood, actually only a few blocks away to be exact, and know exactly why he wants this car at his age. I don't want to get into the whole cultural aspect, but lets just say kids in my area around his age all drive luxury cars that they shouldn't be driving. I see it all day. This young kid driving an X5 almost killed me and my kids the other day because he had his hat below his eyes and his seat all the way back and rolled thru a stop sign.

I'll say it again and then I will let it be. You are full of it, you are NOT buying an M3, locally or overseas, and I forsee you getting taken advantage of in every aspect of life until you take someone like JB's advice and let someone more mature (and smart) handle your "money"

Yeah, it's kind of a pattern. I have been staying out of his threads or replying with a general "Get a financial planner" reply.

But this thread got me participating again in the hopes we could save him from a scam and help him out. I'll admit it, I feel bad for the kid... but, looking at where the thread is now... it's really no different then the others. Replying is like pissing in the wind. Sure you're relieved... but now you're covered in urine. Not worth it.

So I'm done. I'll just watch it to make sure no one makes it personal... but that's it as far as the topic itself is concerned.

.

It never makes sense to literally work to pay for a car. You're simply going to take it in the . People, especially younger guys really need to realize a car is a depreciating asset. You will think you're cool and making everyone jealous but your buddy who takes that 40k and puts it into home is smarter. His house will be worth more in five years when you'll barely get 20 for your car. Hell a GTi isn't even justified.

I'd drive that TL-S to the grave.

I'd rather see him buy the car, and get into a financial rut so that he actually learns something.

I'm pretty new to the boards but I take inconsideration of what others have to say.
especially older members with higher post count than me.
What I don't understand is how ignorant some one can be...I hope I wasn't like that when I was 20.
After the direction this thread went, I can safely assume that he's not buying an M3 and is just trolling to get attention. I truly hope he gets his shit together before he does get taken advantage of.

This is why kids must get to some decent universities to LEARN stuff. there are so MUCH to learn.

I graduated from USC, do you know how much it costs to go to USC? at least $45k-50k for tuition and living expenses. so for 4 years, it's almost $200k!

you think you made some baller amount of money, right? nope.

seriously go to school and take some finance courses or something.

Its probably the whole work two jobs thing that pushed people over the edge.

Congrats if you truly believe buying a $60k car at this time in your life is a good idea, but please, most of the people giving you advice are older then you and have gone through similar situations. Its not fun living beyond your means. Ive not experienced it first hand, but Ive witnessed it, and usually it ends with you having nothing.

Go to school. Get ONE job that pays well. Then go out and get a car thats better then the M3. Im pretty sure if you drop the money on this car now you will regret it. Maybe not right away, but Im sure you will.

I rarely give financial advice mainly because no one ever listens. So why bother.

Ill help with whatever dream, err... car advice is needed.

Not my problem if he gets in the meantime.

^ i understand that , but honestly none of you guys know exactly where i stand financially , so none of you can tell what i cant or can afford , i know the value will go down over time on this car and go up on a house, and i know that it would be better to just invest and let the money work for me , i know all of these things and im planning to do it all.

but right now i want to get a new car, its my choice for my reason

and im done trying to justify it to everyone here

the next post you guys see from me here on this thread will be pics of the car, im just done arguing with everyone

Thanks for all the great adivice tho, i get where everyone is coming from, just trying to look out, if im making a mistake atleast later on all you guys can say i told you so

Good.

Just this thread up then.

Don't make any more of my new car!! oh wait.. threads, alright? Get your car, take some decent pictures of it, and then make a new thread.

It's your money and your life. So, I don't really care if you get scammed or whatever. I'll probably just laugh at you as I'm like one of those assholes on the car talk anyway.

And, next time, please listen to older people who are on this forum. They are very fking knowledgeable and they really do care about youngsters on this forum. That's for sure.

I was 20 years old when I first joined this forum, and Acurazine members have helped me in so many different way.

Sure, if it's a car that's already on the road and it's wanting a complete paint job, I can understand why it would cost more.

But when it's ordered new like that, paint is going to have to be applied to the body anyways. I'm not saying they can't or shouldn't charge extra for a 'premium' color...but 5K?
The reason they charge so much is it costs them a lot of money to do a custom color. They have to stop the production line, clean all the painting equipment paint your car, clean everything again and then they can go back to painting. The reason you can only choose certain colors normally is they paint a bunch of cars at a time one color, then switch color and paint another run of cars. Thats part of the reason cars like Rolls Royce and Bentley cost what they do. Its because doing each car custom requires a lot of labor.

Oh, and good look getting an individual color. They have to be approved by BMW NA before you can order them and they won't just approve every joe that asks for it.

Yea, i think it was when you mentioned you worked 2 jobs and a 3rd at the airport. Working 3 jobs to pay for anything would majorly suck... Won't have anytime to enjoy it.

And just cause I wanted to use it...

Oh - and I can't wait to see pics of the ride... i'm a sucker for m3's

If you invested even SOME of that money into getting an education, you could probably be making 5 fold in 40 hours a week over what your doing in 60 hours now.

Just a thought.

Believe it or not I have gone through every post and I have to say how amazed I am about Dave's maturity in keeping his cool and not be disrespectful in his responses. I guess you do value/appreciate the camaraderie of car enthusiasts on a car forum.

As for financial advice, take in what applies to you and make it yours and move on.

At 20, if you can afford a luxury car and feel that this will empower you in any ways, hey, I say go for it - as long as you understand the risks.

Good luck and definitely get us some shots once you have the new ride.

Not to pick up for anyone or pick at anyone but the neighborhood is full of a significant amount of very well educated kids and decent off families.....I would think it stems from that moreso than anything "cultural"
