I apologize in advace for those of you that bought one and are offended by what I'm saying, but seriously what were they thinking. I keep waiting for the lines to grow on me and they dont.

It's styled with this chunky bottom that looks great on sports car, but not stuff that sits a foot and a half off the ground. Seriously everytime I see one, I think it looks like (as Chris Rock would put it) a giant "cankle".

Anyway, sorry I had to rant because I followed one on my way into the office for about 3 miles so I had plenty of time to check it out and get different views of it in motion, and it just looks like a fat kid on rollerskates to me.

Sorry if this has already been posted to death. I keep looking for a saving grace on it but find none.

Regardless my mother is in the market for a small SUV (which I hate all of them, but she's my mother so I tolerate her ... uniqueness, here's a comparison)

Toyota Rav 4 vs Acura RDX ooh and the CX-7... its bad enough its getting skunked by the Toyota but to have a Mazda in better form... that just sad.

I have to agree with you that when it first came out, I thought it'd be among very ugly such as the new MDX. But when I walked up to it in person, saw it, drove it, and saw how short it was, I found it amongst one of the nicest looking SUV's around. Even the new MDX grew on me.

And sorry, the CX-7 is just too plain and boring. Too ugly. Pug Fugly. Fug Pugly. Pugly. Fugly.

The MDX has grown on me as well, but it does not have the same chunky look to me the RDX has.

As for the Mazda, wasn't commenting on the style, was just comparing the specs and such from a car that's 10-15k less than the Acura and keeping pace.

Oh and I'm short for a guy, but I'm not that short! lol

 

To each their own. The RAV4 isn't sporty and the CX-7, no matter what anyone claims, doesn't handle as well as the RDX in any condition and has an awful lot of body roll. Just didn't feel right during my test drives.

The RDX has a very specific market in mind and it appeals to those buyers that it wants to appeal to.

 

i haven't seen enough rdx's in person, but i think it looks nice. it's not stunning, but it has its moments. i thought the concept and release photos look nicer than in person though.

as for the cuv market, there are lots of models that look good. i haven't driven any of them so i can't judge the driving and performance, but the rav4 and santa fe look sharp. i'm in the minority with the cx-7. i think it looks really nice. it turns my head everytime i see one.

as for the mdx, now that's a car that's really grown on me. i thought it was fugly at first when i saw the release photos. but when i saw a black one, it looked awesome. it's sharp, it's aggressive, and it's an acura! i love it.

 

That's actually was sold me was a black MDX cruising down the road.

i sure as hell find it kinda appealing to the eye. but, it is definitely overpriced.

 

I think the RDX and MDX look nice...it's the CX-7 I think is friggin ugly as hell. Have never liked the Rav-4, either. I'm not really a big SUV lover.

 

I don't mind the look.

 

i see two RDX's in Englewood Cliffs, NJ today. not too shabby, but i'm not into CUV/SUV image.

I wouldn't call it boring, just unrefined (engine) and overpriced.
