My Car Buying Dilemma (Need help with Crossovers)
Okay guys, I could use some guidance here before I pull the trigger.
Currently, I have an 07 TL-S and an 04 S2000. I never thought I would need more space than my TL offered but then again, I thought I wouldnt be buying a house so soon. I've been in my house for a few months now and I really would like to get something more spacious.
While keeping that in mind, the demands of my job keep me on the road, and I'm concerned about the continued decline in the TL's value because of the amount of miles I drive (even with being reimbursed for mileage). Most dealers are only giving me 16-17K for it as trade in
The S2000 is more of a weekend car for me and thats about it.
I've been looking at crossovers, and unless there is something that I'm missing, I'm stuck between an RDX (25K) and MDX (33K).
I plan on getting something to beat on for my daily driver (like a used TSX or something along those lines).
What would you do in this situation: Keep the TL and S2000 (find an older SUV to use maybe?), Trade up the TL or S2000, or just start fresh and sell everything?
Cliffs: Sell TL, S2000, both or none for Crossover SUV?

Keep both. You're into the TL for a huge chunk of depreciation and honestly the value of the TL to you is worth way more than the trade-in value IMO.
In other words, you probably couldn't spend $17k and get anything as nice as the TL at this point (believe me I've looked in that range recently).
There's no reason that you can't get 200k miles out of the TL ... My advice is drive that car into the ground and enjoy it.
And don't sell the S2000!

At this point, it will cost you more than $16-17k to replace the TL with something that is equivalent. If you trade in the TL and/or the S2000, you will end up having to pay out of pocket and likely end up with something less enjoyable.

I know i'll have to come out of pocket for something regardless, but space is something I pretty much need at this point. I cant haul anything in any car (not even a simple lawnmower) and something sort of has to give....
Don't see why any one person needs three cars when you're using one of them 5 out of 7 days, leaving only a few days for the second car. In other words, I don't see the point in getting a third car to suit your changing needs.
Give up one of the cars you already have if it is no longer serving your needs. You'll have to add money out of pocket to get something new (I'm assuming you don't want used), but it sounds like you're willing to do that as a trade for more cargo space.
Have you considered a Subaru Outback or Forester? ( :ghey: comments expected). Mazda 3 5-door too small?

the wife and i ask that question all the time. We don't have kids but have 3 dogs, sooooo, the suv is the dog hauler but is a pig on gas and we really don't want a wagon but a crossover really hasn't been on the radar b/c of the interior size.
We have our fun sunny weather car. She has the integra b/c it gets 29 mpg instead of the 16 her suv gets. I drive my toyota to work b/c is it's a work only car.
Each one has it's purpose.

the only 03-04 MDX's I see for 10K are either with 150K miles on them or salvage title/with extensive previous body work.
Any SUV or Crossover is going to get crappy mileage. I always have had friends with underused trucks and we would do favors for each other. The TL does not hold much.
We do have an MDX purchased new in 2002, currently with 45K miles. My wife loves it as her DD. We will likely keep it forever because it doesn't get a lot of miles put on it. Otherwise, 13-15 mpg would have been gone long ago.

Keep the S2000...period. As for crossovers...yeah, depends on what trim you go after. The V8 FX is one thirsty car...but, it's not terrible compared to other cars in it's class with that size of engine.
If you're only picking in the Acura family...go after the MDX. If not, you have other choices. Cadillac SRX is great looking and well-priced IMO...the FX series for Infiniti is also not bad. And there's also the Volvo XC60.

Wait until you have kids. I have an RDX. I really like it, but I would not be driving it if I didn't have kids in car seats.
You can rent trucks at Home Depot for $30 if you need to haul something home.
