With the turbo/supercharger kits out there, very few of them, we're looking at 250-350 to the wheels. 250hp is more than enough to wipe the smile off any S2K/Elise owner on the track.
Supercharger kits are running about $5000 installed with a tune, and turbos start at about $3500.

Looking very nice. The drop really helps with the car's looks, and I bet it helps even more when driving it. Looks like you're taking real good care of it too. Props

Stock MX5's look ridiculous as far as ride height is. With the springs, shocks, strut braces, chassis braces and GIANT sway bars I've added, it handles like a dream.

Servo's are still a possibility on my list for "pretty" wheels. I need to get my light weight ones on first. Shoot me a PM with a price again.

170hp stock, to the crank.

350 bhp would be enough to wipe the smile off C5 Corvettes. S2ks are only something like 240 horsepower, Elises even less, but they're much lighter. I think a 250 horse Miata would compete well with the S2k, maybe something like 270 to keep up with the Lotus.

A 350whp MX5 would be chomping at Vipers and Corvettes...on the straights.
6.9hp / lb - Based on ~2400lbs and 350hp (MX5)
6.8hp /lb - Based on ~3400lbs and 500hp (Gen 3 Viper)
Elise's are less of a track "car" and more of a track weapon. Truly amazing vehicles. You really can't go wrong with an Elise, S2K, or MX5. There are very, very few cars in the price range that work as well as they do on the street and track. MX5 is probably the best for street, in stock form its pretty soft. S2K would be the benchmark of the three. The Elise you could totally daily, if your back was made of steel, and you weighed 90lbs and were as limber as a noodle.

January purchases include:
1) Truechoice Koni Coilovers w/Hyperco springs (300f/175r)
2) 17x9 Silver RPF1's.
Next up:
245/40/17's, some fender rolling and some moooore bracing....and the stripes are going back on. I might just do chevrons on the fenders, but im thinking the whole car. Who knows...something for me to play around with in the mean time.
I'm really anxious to start tracking the car and doing some Auto-X'ing.

I could've gone Ohlins or JIC but I really wanted something custom from the ground up that will suit my needs as a daily, but also as a really....really mean/sticky track car. Did some research and wound up with these.

The Flyin' Miata kit is nice...but for a grand more you could have the Cosworth, which can be warrantied by Mazda....and for a thousand less I could drive to Houston for a weekend and pay a visit to BEGi.

His turbo setup uses the "disco potato" turbo, but even now he says he wished he just had a larger supercharger.

Coilovers are on, notice the rear end isnt so low anymore!. I put pearl white chevrons on the drivers fender. Calipers are now painted red.

I'm not a fan of the red calipers but the car still looks great! I like that last shot

Perfect stance! Looking good!!! I'm sure the chevron stripes on the fenders are more noticable in person because other than the last photo they look nearly invisible in the rest of the photos.

Love the chevrons... perfectly subtle.
Not a huge fan of the red calipers, I think black would be better. What kind of pads are you running? But whatever floats your boat. Tan top is
Where did you get that wind deflector? Any issues with putting the top up or down?
If you ever decide to sell...

The wind deflector is an aftermarket accessory from Mazda in the UK. I can still reach the top fine. It took some getting used to, but its no biggie. It still only takes about 2 seconds to drop it back.

The coilovers really transformed the car. Where as stock it was slightly firm to springs and shocks which was low and uncomfortable to custom made, pretty aggressive coilovers..I never knew a car could drive like it does now. Perfectly agile, even on full soft. Full hard is a different animal. =)

Rumors are that, yes...the new model will be out soon. My advice....pick an NC or NC2 (<---forged engine internals, higher redline) and save some dough. Freak'n excellent cars. I went to Houston last weekend (about 250 miles from me) and averaged 39mpg.

but my car is only 1.5 years old with less than 9k miles on it... maybe i can sell it for pretty good price and get mx-5? no... i should just enjoy my ms3 for 3 more years... sigh lol

Usually not a fan of red calipers on any car, but they work here...can't explain why. Don't like the Chevrons, though. Still, overall, the car looks great...it's really coming along nicely.
