All the morally-righteous people in Portland are gobbling them up left and right to prove to everyone that they "care".

Personally, my experience with battery-powered devices has not been such that I would consider buying a car powered by them. Last night I was out train hunting and right as I got the communication I was waiting for, my scanner battery croaked. Then right as the train got to my camera, the camera battery died, as well. If I had an electric car, chances are good I'd still be stuck in that parking lot.
