Motortrend: M3 vs CTS-V vs RS5

Your ignorance is beyond me.
If you actually read what I wrote, I said it is amazing how BMW always wins with the most basic formula. That's a compliment, not critism. It really shows how good BMW tuning is. I then go on to say I'm NOT bashing any of these cars. Why am I even explaining myself to you? I could be off doing something productive like watching paint dry...

I can read, kthx. Here's what you said in case you forgot or are too incompetent to go back (or scroll up) a page
The thing that gets me, BMW almost always beats everyone with the most simple formula.
M3: plain ole RWD, NA V8, no wild bodywork. The only thing newely engineered is the transmission, which in today's world, is becoming the norm.
CTS-V: If it weren't for that supercharged engine, what would it have to gain respect with? Looks?
RS5: Well engineered AWD system to cope with its FWD origins. If it didn't have that, it would be nothing. It adds weight and slows the car down. Really sleek lines though.... good Lord the elegance.....
I'm not bashing any of these, I like them all. But I just find it funny that BMW almost always gets em with what they do best. Simple.
On a sidenote, which of these 3 would still drive/feel like it was new after 5 years?

You praised BMW for supposedly just dumping a V8 into a 3-series, despite the fact that it exclusively has adjustable suspension & engine response, M-Dynamic Mode, and a limited slip diff.
Yes, the EDC is optional, but all of the comparo cars are so equipped and it would lose quite a bit of day-to-day drivability without it.
Wrote off the Cadillac for having a powerful engine and state it doesn't have anything else to gain respect.
It held the production car record for a sedan at the Ring.
What awe-inspiring kit does an M3 have that the V doesn't? A few comparison test wins?
Then you say that if the RS5 wasn't AWD, it would be nothing.
This is really stretching it.
How can you discredit a car based on its supposed performance on a different drivetrain?
This is akin to stating that a Lancer Evo is shitty because the base model is FWD..
Of course, there's a "please dont flame me" disclaimer toward the end. But it's your assumptions that come off as ignorant at best.

Punk Rocker
Possibly, but its also possible that the new F30 sedan will debut for 2013 and the "old" E92 will still be around as a coupe and M3 (like in 2006 where the E90 330i debuted but the old E46 coupe and M3 continued for one last model year)....

AMS Magazine: Another Comparison, Another Victory - M3 ZCP vs. RS5, C63, B3 <hr style="color: rgb(228, 228, 228); background-color: rgb(228, 228, 228);" size="1"> <!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message -->
The German car magazine Auto Motor und Sport featured an interesting comparison test in their latest issue. Following the current trend, they pitted the E92 M3 equipped with Competition Package (ZCP) and DCT against the Audi RS5. But it doesn't stop there, and they also included the Mercedes C63 with the Performance Package Plus and the Alpina B3 S in this comparison.
As many know already, the M3's on a roll lately coming out of every comparison with the Audi RS5 on top. Fortunately, this series doesn't stop now, and the M3 won this comparison against its three contenders. Remarkable is also the AMS verdict which not only emphasizes the M3's performance, but also its driving comfort.
See for yourself, here are the results:

The M3 is undoubtedly an amazing car and in a lot of ways the benchmark (again) for the category. But it goes beyond the performance at 9/10ths that I likely will never approach.
I just like the philosophy of Audis and their Quattro so much that I'm willing to buy an inferior car because I'll enjoy it more on a day-to-day basis.

I had the opportunity to fully explore a 4-door M3 in the back roads of a rural area for an extended drive. That was before I made my decision to buy an 02 911. Although the new M3 does not have the same feel of the 911, it was the closest car I have driven to the 911. It is on the heavier side on paper but for some reason I did not feel the weight in the car transitions the same way I did with the Audi or other performance cars.
If my 911 proved unreliable, I would not hesitate to aquire the V8 M3 (once their depreciation is done)
