Mother's Chip Repair - Test Results

To the folks that received the chip repair kit from Mother's, how did it work?

Well when it was called Langka chip repair I tried it and was not impressed. Always seemed to take too much of the paint out of the chip.

I've had good luck with Run Razor Blocker Set
These cleverly-designed tools will take care of any problem areas that crop up towards the end of the painting process. Run Razor holds standard razor blades at a precise angle to shave down semi-hardened runs, sags or dust between color or clearcoats. Just pass it gently over the surface, dialing down the blade position indicator in.001" increments until the imperfection is gone. Run Blocker provdes three different contoured aluminum blocks that can be used with wet/dry sandpaper to finish runs that have been cut down with nib files. Can also be used for block sanding body filler or primer.

Neil: Do you think that would help get dried sap on my car off? I got it in Maine last year and it came off a little, but not enough to make me happy.

I've been filling in small and large chips all around my car with some touch up paint I had picked up recently. It works incredibly well on the front bumper plastic, but on the hood I really need a way to smooth or sand over the chip once I fill it in. Maybe I'll give both those products a try.

I would try SkinSoSoft. Don't laugh, it works great and is very mild. Bug and tar remover works well but can be rough on the paint. The run razor should take it off too. How much of the sap is on your car?

Same here. No matter how lightly I rubbed it would take too much of the paint out.....
