Mother winter got to it - time to move on or save it?

Have a 10 yr old 2001 CL-S. Just learned the sub frame, brake/fuels lines are rusting. Thanks winter salt!

Any suggestions? Anyone could suggest a body shop that would be able to repair?

otherwise, that CL-S has been very dependable and maintenance free (apart from the usual wear and tear - 215k and counting ). Originally thought i would be able to drive it for another 5 years ... dang!!

How bad is it really? Surface rust or has it eaten through? I assume when you say subframe you mean the front subframe.

Sorry to hear that. You know when people say, "I'm gonna drive it until the wheels fall off"? Well you have to define "wheels fall off" because they never are . If it is worth it to you personally then get it repaired but if it is going to cost more than the car is worth then I would say move on. At 215K on the clock I would say even if it is worth it it is probably marginal.

thats 215k km (135k miles) - you can tell I still want to find a way to justify repairs .. but i agree ... probably repairs would cost as much as its worth.

Determine the extent of the rust first. Look at it firsthand and use a scribe (sharp point with a handle) and try to poke through it. Post pics if you can.

Things do not sound good. Repair estimate and be prepared to move on. Keep the memories, loose the car.

Consider though that I'm not a person that will spend $2000 to repair a $50 pet dog.
