More about the G35 Coupe

well .. i went by the infiniti dealership today, test drove the G35, and put my name down for the coupe ... didnt really put a deposit, but gave him all my info, and told him to look into the possibility of a CL trade.

The guy really tried to sell me on putting a deposit down saying that there was already a list, they were takin deposits and preselling the G35's .. i didnt tho

The problem i realized is the price. the G35 is getting to be more in the BMW 3series price range than the CL .. even tho the base price is similar to the CL .. to get the luxury and sporting necessities .. you'd end up spending more like $35-40K (navi, heated seats, wood trim, floor mats, sun roof, blah blah blah .. 90% of the options that are standard in the CL are NOT standard in the G)

this is the only thing i didnt like about the coupe. besides that i'm still on the list, and will keep you guys posted.

Oh yeah, this Motorcars infiniti dealership, in the cleveland auto mile said in the last 2 weeks, they have sold 15 G35's. and have presold 10 G35 coupes. They were exstatic about those sales #'s .... umm i guess it makes sense. i would've figured they sold more like 2-3 of each of their cars a day

You're goddamned right they're ecstatic! Inifniti just had it's best sales month ever (March) in their entire 12 year history. Who sells 2-3 cars a day, every day? Certainly not Acura or Infiniti. Maybe the big three, but not many others.

I wouldn't buy into the hype of G35 coupe pre-orders. There is NO formal pre-order process like there is with the Z, and even still only 3,500 of the 7,500 Z pre-orders have been allocated. The only real advantage of being on the list at this point is having first pick of what's coming in to the dealership. Like Acura, you have to pick from what's coming with hopefully the options you want. Unlike Acura, this is a lot harder since the CL/TL's only option besides color choice is nav.

Which one do you want, the Luxury or Sport model?

I test drove one with my brother tonight. He is going to get a new car soon and was stuck on getting the IS 300. Well after tonight, the G35 just took first place on his list!!!! All I have to say is WOW!!!! Feels about as fast as our car, but the handling is off the hook!!!!!! It was on rails!!!! The only complaint I had was the options BS!!!! All the so called options on the G35 are standard on the CL!!!! They have rear wheel drive and a factory aero kit though!!!!!! Fully loaded it is gonna be over $35K. I was very impressed with fit, finish, warranty, and service. Loaner Infiniti car is mandatory!!! Not dealer specific!!! I highly recommend that you all take one for a drive, well worth the time!!

BTW, I am keeping my CL!!!! I will have to drive the G35 coupe and to get a better idea if I want to lose my azz in a trade in!!!!

well what im thinkin is that i'd like to find a g35 forum like this .. and wait for about 6-8 months after the release, undoubtedly some of the well to do first few owners are gonna get tired and if that board has a black market section like ours does, they'll be sellin for way less than sticker. thats what im thinkin bout doin ..

i mean i was surprised at how soon type-s with navi's were selling on here for ~25k. i paid 32k+ for my cl-p non navi (yeah i got screwed in the beeehind, but just seeing the big difference in the slightly used cl's was enough to help me decide my strategy for my future cars)

From what I can gather, the sport package includes the suede inserts on the seats and doors (think Audi S4), titanium trim and the 18s at a minimum. I'm thinking that the Brembos are also a part of the package as well.

The back seat will be slightly less roomy than the CL and probably more in line with an RSX/Mustang/Eclipse. I don't give a rat's ass about backseat passangers, but I am very interested in the fold-down rear seats for additional cargo capacity.

Why is everyone so quick to sell there Acura's for these? For some reason a little more torque, and better handling doesn't sell me. The rear of the car is just weird looking, and the interior is cheap. What about it is so much better than the Cl that it warrants a trade in?

My CL-S is long gone. You really have to ask that question? RWD, 6-speed, 275+HP, 18s STOCK, Brembos, looks tight as shit... the list goes on.

the g35 4 door has reclining back seats! pretty cool eh? they are the same size as the IS300. the back seats recline as much as the seats on a plane .. and in the same way too with a lever

i dont know how the g35 coupe will compare tho it looks pretty low in the back

UGH, I went by the Infinity dealer too (NO THANKS TOI YOU GUYS!!!!) hehe. Anyway they said 3rd to 4th quarter this year for the coupe. The 4-door is fugly! no way... I don't like the tail lights either...

anyway so I ventured over to the Nissan dealership next door. Spent some time deciding how fugly the maxipad is. Then I started talking to the salesman. He was trying to convice me to put a 5k deposit on a 350z!!!

I laughed, and said NO way I was going to put a 5K deposit on a 1st year car that I can't even drive yet! Thats crazy.

He tried to convice me it was a good idea. And that the 350z is going to be some amazing car. And I'll feel stupid I didn't put a deposit down.

I laughed and left.

ugh! to the Nissan car sales in the KC area.

That business about a $5k deposit is just insane. Wow.

I with you on the fugly G35 too. Interior and exterior, the G35 is a strange mixture of nice and lame.
