Mobil 1 add with RDX. Mobil 1 comes in the RDX

It wouldn't be very professional for Acura to list the names of the other oils tested. Their intent was to show that M1 was the most widely available, best performing oil for their application. The brochure was intended to show that M1 was the best choice for the RDX, not an oil war.

No actually it would be professional for Acura. But since Mobil 1 obviously paid for that test. They didn't want any other oil brand names on it. Acura would have put them. Honda tested many oils before deciding on Mobil 1. But too bad Amsoil wasn't tested.
Mobil 1 is a great oil. Corvettes from with them and several other cars straight from the factory. Most of Mobil 1 tests do not show the competition names.

The OEM can use whatever oil they want: Amsoil, RL, RP, etc...IF it is really needed.
If availability is an issue, they could bottle it under their own brand like Saab did for a while (Elf Evolution 0w30).
But clearly, M1 5w30 does the job just fine.
The OEM does their OWN tests. Exxonmobil just took advantage of their product's success and made a brochure out of it...what's the big deal?
You just get upset when it isn't scAMSOIL that got the top prize as you think it owns all, when it really doesn't.

At the very least it would have been better if Mobil 1 specified what metric of performance was used, or at least put some numbers on the y-axis. I doubt that the chart shown is drawn to scale.

Would Joe Blow really care?
I mean, you could do the same thing for spark plugs. NGK outperformed Autolite, Champion, Denso, etc...and that's why we chose it as factory plugs...but would you care?
Maybe you would. And a few others. But 99% of the buyers have no interest in it anyway.
Besides, the testing protocols may very well be proprietary test procedures.
Or worse, they might give you some information but not the entire story. Reminds me of those efficiency ratings you see on oil filter boxes. There are no directly comparable to tests ran by any other brand as anyone can set their own testing methods...and they won't tell you the exact details.

I looked through BITOG and couldn’t find the discussion that you keep referring to. Either it doesn’t exist or I’m having a brain fart.
Besides, while ExxonMobil may’ve paid for some of the info in that brochure, clearly, the test data was from internal Acura R&D. So it wasn’t Mobil 1 sponsored testing, it was OEM test data. And OEM test data is often proprietary which is why I wasn’t surprised to see “Oil A, Oil B, etc” terms used to describe the performances of other tested products.

It was posted a few days ago. Maybe even a week ago. That is how I got the link. The test data was NOT from Acura. It was from Mobil 1.
Mobil 1 is the only company that puts that same info in all there tests. That doesn't show the names of the compeitors. Acura has nothing to lose to show what oil they found best. But Mobil 1 does.
Again your making asummptions and you have no backing when the data is at BITOG.

Actually the oils that pass will certainly carry a label that says that they meet Honda's HTO-06 standard. There's no need to list the oils that didn't pass because they will probably be reformulated to pass (and carry the label that says so) in a year or so.
