Is it just the turbo that needs to be replaced to up the boost, or do you need to do work inside the engine?

You can up the boost on any turbo (even stock turbo) through a boost controller or programing.

You dont need to touch the internals of the engine untill you running insane amount of boost, which i wont be doing. If you push the stock turbo too hard it will go BOOM. If you push a bigger turbo too hard, then your engine goes BOOM. Thats when you want to upgrade the internals.

Im no expert on turbos... im sure someone else can give a better example.

Yea it totally is slighty. Its been driving me nuts but i was at my buddys house doing the install since he has power tools. Well the install went longer than expected and he had to be somewhere at 3pm. (started at 10am).

So yea, we couldnt really fix it. All i have to do is take off the bumper and adjust it a bit. I can do that on my own. BUt i really want this bumper.

hmmm I didn't know about the surging. was that a problem you had even when the car was stock or after you started modding?

when I test drove the A3 i noticed at around 2K RPM out of no where the car would seem to take off, it was a very abrupt amount of power increase. I wonder if that was the same thing

Oh and sweet mod.

I know if I get the A3, I want to do the same:

Oh my car isnt stock, program wise.

I have 380cc injectors and a program to match it. The problem was that was i heatsoaking bad from it since the stock intercooler was too small to cool the flow.

Basicly im pushing the stock turbo HARD.

Nope.

I wont be swapping the turbo out anytime soon. No need.

The car is running the way I want it. For now that is.

I will upgrade the front bumper and install a new clutch before getting a new turbo. So it will be awhile.

Its on backorder and has been for awhile. I canceled my order with them after being told it was shipped when it didnt.

Plus i dont have the cash for that kit if something went wrong. I dont care to push this motor that hard.

The K04 will be fine for me.

Oh i would upgrade the clutch because the stock one cant handle much power. I rather do it before it starts slipping and it will start to slip sooner or later with the K04. Plus i could launch like a mofo with a new clutch.

I was just thinking the same thing. I try to clean mine monthly. At least just a simple spray in there and a little wiping.

What do cars with your mods run in the 1/4? Mid to low 14s? My brother sold his E36 M3 and is looking at A4's.
