Drifting is more of an art/science/style than racing. If you are on a track and will be racing, then drifting is very bad, it will slow you down a lot. But in a drift event, like a drift contest or drift race, it's cool. I love drifting, i think once you can master the drift, you can finally be one with your car.

IMHO drifiting doesn't take much talent at all. If you really knew how to drive, you wouldn't do it because it causes you to run slower lap times.

I don't know why people think drifting is cool. Drifting is the slowest way around the track. I guess smoke shows and slow times are cool for some people.

I just want to point out that different types of races have different methods. Obviously on dirt tracks, it's better to drift.
But on a road course, drifting is just a smoke show.

When you drift, your LOSING traction. That equates to SLOWER track times. Do you ever see NASCAR cars drifting? If you do, they are usually the ones getting passed.

no shit, that's why "bigman" already stated that it's more of an art/science/style. it's not used conventionally in racing. and if drifting doesn't take much talent at all, id like to see your drift video posted up here. thank you

If you understand the concept of oversteer and know how to control it, you can drift. Again, drift is a "ricey" term for oversteer. If you want to practice it, wait till it snows and find a nice open parking lot.
