Miles Per Gallon - Do you keep track of them?
For each of my cars I've kept a log of each time I refueled. I can't be the only one
Here's what my 'fleet' over the years has done.
1996 Honda Civic 47,345 miles driven, 33.2 MPG overall, best tank 41.3 MPG, worst 28.6 MPG
1988 Honda Accord 35,289 miles driven, 32.4 MPG overall, best tank 36.3 MPG, worst 26.7 MPG
1997 Acura 3.2 TL, 121,432 miles driven, 21.5 MPG overall, best tank 30.4 MPG, worst 16.8 MPG
2003 Acura 3.2 TL (premium), 37,811 miles driven, 26.4 MPG overall, best tank 34.8 MPG, worst 20.2 MPG
2005 Acura TL (automatic), 41,817 miles driven, 24.6 MPG overall, best tank 32.4 MPG, worst 19.6 MPG
2002 Acura 3.5 RL 46,714 miles driven, 20.9 MPG overall, best tank 26.1 MPG, worst 15.5 MPG
1991 Honda Prelude Si (manual) 12,873 miles driven, 25.8 MPG, best tank 30.1 MPG, worst 22.6 MPG
2011 Acura TSX Wagon, 7018 miles driven, 27.3 MPG overall, best tank 35.2 MPG, worst 19.2 MPG

I don't keep track of all my previous cars or the other cars on the lot, but I do keep track for my RL at every fill-up! I average about 23K miles per year and $2400 for gas yearly. My best tank MPG average was 23mpg and worst was 14mpg!
I don't keep it that religiously but I try to once in a while. Most of the time, I'll just reset the trip and keep mental notes of how many miles per tank.
Had this spreadsheet when I had the TL.

Nothing formal like you, but informally. I reset my "Trip A" at each fill-up, then see how many miles I get until the next fill-up, and divide by gallons. I do not track it or anything... and I kind of stopped doing it with my FJ b/c it always seems to be the same (almost always between 20 and 21 regardless of driving)...

Impressive record keeping. On the current car, I use the Trip and Onboard Info computers to track commute MPGs and tank MPGs, respectively. Best tank - ~21 (road trip). Worst - ~14.5.
I averaged about 24 on my commute in my TL.

I don't keep it like that but for the first 3 months this year I used an app on my phone to track it. After that I kind of fell off on tracking it but have been saving all the receipts and taking pictures of my odometer to match up with the receipts to enter the information into it at a later date. I really should just start doing it again instead and enter the old data later it would be much easier.
Nothing like that.
I know that the best I have gotten on my CLs was 31+ mpg. Best on the I35 was 28+ and best on the TL is just under 31 mpg. The worse I have gotten on the TL is 25.6 mpg.

I don't trust the MID's mpg, but i'm not sure how correct it really is. But, on the other hand, when the pump clicks when it's done, who knows how full it is.
I used to have an app on my phone and I did keep track of them. Did that for about a year and a half.
But now I just find out my mpg at the station as soon as i'm done filling up, dont write it down anymore.
Highest I've seen in my car is 22 and that was mostly highway.
I'm not filling premium though, even though it requires it.

I don't really do it, but I do reset my Trip A & Trip B every fill up to see how long I went with one tank.
For my car, I normally go about 290 miles with one full tank, and it takes about 13.5 gallon/tank. I think I average 21mpg, which isn't too bad considering I do 3rd gear datalog (going WOT from 2500rpm to 6700rpm) for tuning purpose every day on the way back to home.
And my MID is pretty accurate from my simple calculation.

Used the MID in the TL and always averaged about 24mpg. I keep a notepad for the Accord since the 4cyl doesn't come with the MID. So far I've been around the 31mpg range.
Wow that's some serious record keeping! I've often thought about keeping track like that, but honestly I'm just too damn lazy. I do check every fill up with the Trip from the previous fill up and the number of gallons filled. I average between 21-23 mpg in the MS6.
I don't keep a log, I just do the math when I fill up. I try to use the same pump every time and just let it go until it clicks off. I figure the fill-up is fairly consistent if I use the same pump over and over. I usually average about 22-24 MPG, 60% highway, 40% city.
kept track of the gas mileage during our 3 cross country trips. Wrote it down in a log book-gas station location, price of gas, how many gals. and mpg.

Damn...I feel like a super geek then. I started tracking my MPG in 2007, and I created an Excel spreadsheet for it. This was what I started with.

Now this file has expanded to a total of 6 tabs, including multiple charts too.
Here is what I have so far:
2004 Acura TSX, tracked 27,982 miles, avg. 25.09mpg, best 33.31mpg, worst 18.47mpg
2006 Audi A4, tracked 24,879 miles, avg. 24.03mpg, best 33.53mpg, worst 19.77mpg
2009 BMW 335i, so far 28,746 miles, avg. 19.03mpg, best 23.13mpg, worst 8.79mpg (track day
)
2010 Audi S4, so far 26,701 miles, avg. 18.08mpg, best 24.84mpg, worst 6.59mpg (track day
)

^ Wow that's impressive.
I'm like some of the others, I use the trip odometers and number of gallons to calculate and I compare to the MID which is very close.
Also as some have mentioned, you never know how much fuel is in the tank when the pump clicks.
My 3G TL 6MT averages 25MPG pretty consistently for mixed suburban driving.

I recently started keeping track of my gas mileage on the 03 TL because I need to see if there are any serious issues with my car. At almost 9 years old and over 116K miles, sensors are bound to go bad, thus, the need to keep track of fuel consumption. Bad fuel economy can be a sign of something wrong.
I average 19.6 mpg. 90% city driving.

Hey VWONG - Can you email me that spreadsheet as well? Ill PM you my email. I need a nicer way of keeping track of my mileage.
I have all but three gas receipts since the first day I bought the CL. The three that Im missing have not been forgotten though, I have those written down elsewhere.
For nearly a year now I haven't actually sat down and calculated my mileage, but I still keep the records. As of around November/December 2010, I've averaged 26.6mpgs over the ~80k miles that Ive owned my '03 CL-S6. I calculate it by distance driven divided by gallons used.

My wife's last few cars did this as well... so she no longer does the reset trip odo thing I do
That's pretty low. All your maintenance items are in good order? Or is it lead foot driving?
