Mazda dealership rant - having problems
Last night was the first time I drove the car. It's been parked at the airport since Wed afternoon. I have just a little over a quarter tank of gas right now. I was driving on the freeway last night and the car starts chugging along the less gas that it gets. I barely made it home and now the car is sitting outside with 1/4 tank of gas left. I'm debating leaving it there until Monday when I have to bring it in.
I will be fighting this. There is obviously an issue. On Monday while I am in the shop I will first talk to the Service Manager, if it does not get resolved I will go to the GM. If nothing happens than, I will get Mazda involved.
If they find the problem with fuel on Monday (which they will) I don't see how any regular company wouldn't refund the money back since they can then charge it to warranty work versus customer pay.
I guess we'll see what happens on Monday.

If you're talking about the Speed6 that's a different story. I'm talking bout the regular ones which I've had many customers complain about and they're extremely underpowered IMO. I used to love the Speed 6 til the Speed 3 came out. I like the look of the Speed 6 better but the clutch, performance, and sleeper ability of the Speed 3 better.

Sorry I'm just getting back to you. Yeah talking to the service manager might help but there's no guarantee especially if it's dealership policy. You'll never know if you dont ask though. Good luck on Monday, keep us updated.
After thinking about it some more today, I think that the "tranny" issue I thought I was having is actually the gas problem. The car is not sucking gas like it should so it feels like the car looses a lot of power, almost like an upshift.
I can't wait to go there on Monday. Everything goes back to the gas problem, and because they were too lazy to drain the tank they couldn't diagnose anything.

^I did too and I still kind of do....maybe it's just this one....hopefully it's just going to be a fuel pump and it'll stop with the headaches.
I might just hop back into my 96 TL and drive that until the 3rd gen GS's drop to mid teens which should probably be another 6-8 months...or I'll keep the 6 until then. It has warranty for another 17 months.

Update
Went to the Mazda dealership this morning. The car would not act up, so I drove around for about 40 minutes staying close to the dealer. Finally it started chugging a little and I picked up the technician.
We went for a ride - he thinks it's the fuel pump. I left the car there and they'll call me by the end of the week. I got a free loaner (new jetta - pretty nice
)
I spoke with the service adv. about me getting charged. I asked her who I need to talk to and she got rather uncomfortable. I told her I need to get a refund or they can pay me for diagnosing the car myself since i've been telling them it's the fuel pump. She said that we will talk about it when they are 100% positive on the problem but they will "work with me".
Thank you everyone for all of your helpful suggestions. I will keep you updated on what happens later.

^I would really rather not get it to go to an extreme level. I'd like to return to that service department since it is the closes one so I'd rather keep the relationship there...but I know what you mean.
They called today and left a VM saying that they are changing the fuel pump tomorrow.

If we're going to start talking about what people lack, let's talk class. Your user name/license plate alone tells anyone all they need to know about you.

UPDATE:
Service called - said it was in fact the fuel pump and I can come pick up my car. They are giving me a full refund for the first time that I came in.
I'm glad this bs is over, I'm going to pick it up either tonight or tomorrow.

I might keep it through winter and put it up for sale at that time. My dad is driving the TL right now, his crown vic sucks in the snow. Maybe I'll just drive the TL again for a while.
Decisions decisions.

Looks like it's not quite over yet. I filled it up after picking it up this morning and now the gauge is off, it's showing a little less then a full tank. I'm going to try getting gas again after work tonight, if it wasn't the pump's fault, I will be going back for them to calibrate it.

I was just about to say good shit to getting everything resolved but I'll hold that comment for now. LOL!
