Maxima Owners
I don't know... recently I've seen a massive influx of Nissan Maxima owners who think they are driving a G37xS (yes yes I know they are related).
Taking corners at way beyond their car's capability, driving 20+ over the speed limit, and the ones who they think they can take TL/IS350 on.

+20mph over the speed limit is nothing on straight road and "some" twisties and I am sure they're capable of doing that. Most of the members on here that already encountered races would also probably reached triple digits in a 55mph zone. Shiet, most of the cars do morning commute on I495 (Massachusetts) are doing +80mph in 55mph zone, let alone those freaking Prius passing you while you're doing 80mph. Also, anything can happen on street racing and those Max are not that slow.

I'm not certain about the 'taking corners' but I know of PLENTY of Maximas (and Altima V6s) that can take down TLs, G37s and IS350s with moderate effort. Of course these are modded and worked Maximas but to their credit they are still NA. (My son's Altima can give an IS350 a SERIOUS workout.)

I don't think OP realizes there are some seriously fast N/A 5.5 gen Maximas running around that will easily show any generation N/A TL their taillights. They're much easier to make fast than any TL. Plus, they're lighter and much easier to launch.

This is more of a rant than anything.

The ones who try to pass up a hill on a 2 way mountain road, doing 90+ on a 45 corner screeching their tires. I'm all for some twisty mountain fun, but at least be safe about it.

This should be put in Car Talk?

Indeed, this might be more of a Car Talk type of subject as opposed to Racing and Competition.

You are correct, people have no idea about basic safety, esp with corners. People just aren't skilled enough to drive fast in corners. Anyone can drive fast in a straight line, but it's once you hit that first corner that separates you from the rest.

+1, but only the V6 Altimas and Maximas. The most common Nissan I see around here an Altima 2.5, and as the Nissan marketing team said, they do have the highest percentage of female buyers in the segment-- and from what I've seen, it's true.

That said, I wouldn't expect a CVT Alti V6 to come close to the IS350's performance either.

My son's Altima is good for mid-upper 13s (05 3.5SE 5MT w/bolt on mods only), traction dependent. He has a friend or two with VQ35DE Maximas that are already running 12s without running forced induction. (If I'm not

A '10 Altima V6 CVT runs very high 14 sec quarter miles, so it is definitely much slower.

While there has been some improvement in terms of performance with Nissan's CVTs, it still kills more HP than a decent 5/6AT. Hopefully, Nissan will end this experiment and maybe the G37's 7AT can trickle down to the next generation Altima/Maxima/Murano.

And speaking of "taking on", a Maxima will easily take on a base TL.
