maryland biker killed today.

he was killed while dooing a wheelie half naked while being filmed for a xtreme sports t.v show. all he was wearing was his helmet and a t shirt and he ran into a tow truck. i just saw the report on the news. i hate hearing this shit becuase i ride a sport bike and people like this give us a bad name. if you want to do stunts thats your own risk but keep it to somewhere when no one else is at risk. now there is gunna be a big crackdown in the area looking at sportbikes. i mean im sorry we lost a fellow rider its always a sad day but come on people if you ride wear your gear it will save your life. if a motogp racer can high side in excess of 180mph and survive the shit works and is worn for a reason it will save your life.

I always see some of those asses on the beltway trying to go around the whole loop as fast as they can. I swear 90% of sport bike riders are complete asses.

I saw a guy on 95 just south of Philly w/o a helmet on, I don't think 2yrs experience gives you the right not to wear a helmet, but it gets rid of the stupid people.

Some peeps don't wear helmets cuz they don't want to survive an accident. It's based on the assumption that you'll be mutilated so why live? Double edged sword if you ask me.

when i first started riding, i thought it was cool too not wear a helmet. But now, i wear my helmet every time i ride. just too big of a risk to not have one on.

I don't think "gear" would have done anything in this situation. You said he ran into a tow truck. If he was already wearing his helmet and didn't survive how exactly would his gear have helped?

well in this instance you never know. im not sure how he died. the bike look like it clipped the tow truck. he didnt run head on into it. the gear these days have pads placed in very specific spots to prevent injury. i was wathcing a motogp race and a repsol honda rider riden a honda rc211v (bad ass bike) was doin a 180mph when his back tire exploded. and he was hurt but was able to limp away from the accident. the shit works thats why they wear it and so do i.

here is the web site for the film crew that was filimg at the time of the accedent. i got it from my sportbike forum im on. one of the riders on there rode with the guy that died and his crew.
http://www.holdingitbig.com
they had a forum on there but its shut down now. i wonder why? there is also some videos on there in the multimedia section. they looked like good riders. but the did it on the streets instead of a parking lot or track.

That is just the stereotype that these morons contribute too. They are certainly not the majority.

sucks to see a rider go down but at the same time it sucks for people like me who wear gear and get harassed by the cops for the other dumbasses on the road. Honestly, i dont really blame the cops too much because it seems sport bikes have so many accidents and not many wear helmets around here much less leathers
