Man sells everything to buy a Lambo and go cross-country

This is a really amazing story.

http://jalopnik.com/5559767/

His fiancee left him after he had bought a house for them, so he sold everything, bought a Lamborghini Gallardo, and went cross-country.

That guy's got balls.

Damn. He put a down payment for half the purchase price, and by the time he was done with, it was worth less than his financing.

He should strategically default on it.

Awesome. If he lived in SoCal, he could've bought one for $50k, lol.

damn I wonder how much he spent on gas! the car doesn't even run anymore? guess the fun caught up to him.

I would love to rally all over America in a supercar...only thing I'd do different is have a group of supercars with good friends driving and actually have the money to be able to do it...ok I guess it will never happen unless you do it his way.

This.

I was actually gonna create a thread about this earlier today asking if anyone else has done something similar. It seems like so much fun.

He should have leased it. StonedCL says it's only the way to go...

Actually in THIS case, I might actually agree.

So, what was his plan going to be when he got to where he was going? Sit around and twiddle his thumbs?

Good for him but piss poor planning.

Agreed. To me, a Lambo or something on that exotic level is way too unreliable, it'd sure be fun while it lasted though. If I were to ever do anything like this, I'd definitely go with something more reliable like a GT3 or maybe even the Turbo with a few more amenities.

if we are going to get on this subject, +3! Porsche is definitely the weapon of choice.

I'm sure you guys heard of the guy who drove his 2010 GT3RS to a 24 hour race, raced it, and then drove back home, ZERO problems.

When you lose the one you love it makes you do crazy things. I hate debt too, but I'd do it, just with a CTS-V (more practical) and have my dog with me.

I can imagine it being extremely fun, but i'd rather use the $80g's to travel all around the world and rent a new super-car in every new location. You can pretty much go EVERYWHERE with $80,000...

Bentley Continental GT.... or if I'm feeling someone exotic... Audi R8. Would love to go cross-country in either!

I feel sorry for the guy. I wonder if he got laid in at the strip joint

btw, this is an awesome philosophical statement he made:

"You're never going to live up to anyone's expectations, so you might as well live up to your own and for me that's to be as free as you can. And if money doesn't buy you freedom then it's useless."

While not exactly the best ending to the story this would be an awesome thing to do. Too bad I don't have anywhere near the amount of money needed for a down payment on a Gallardo.

I'm happy for him following his dreams but did he ever take a step back and look at what he's doing?

So now he has no fiancee, no house, Gallardo with blown engine. Guessing no job too?

He better have some money left over.

Love the story and the guy's spirit, wish the timing chain wouldn't have stretched and ruined the engine.

That's an inexcusable design flaw IMO.

Unless of course you're supposed to change the timing chain every 20k miles on Gallardos
