Made a little trip to Luxury Motors....

no I didn't buy anything.
I went to test drive an '05 CLK 55 AMG. I have been wanting to test drive one for a while. I like the idea of a V8.
The car pulls like a mofo but the car's interior was a little beat up. I wouldn't buy it. Only 20K miles and the headliner looked like it had been to hell and back. Cigarette burns right above the driver side window.
The only reason I have considered CLK's is because of the v8. I dunno why that is so important for me but i absolutely love that sound!
They were asking 42? K for it...a bit steep but I they were willing to negotiate pretty heavily. I would definately consider a CLK550 (07). I have seen ones with less that 10k miles for 43k. That is pretty fuckin cheap if you ask me. 382 HP if a remember correctly.

They are very agressive. It thought it was funny. The manager kept trying to be intimidating but he doesn't realize that I love buying cars ... it's a challenge.

Anyways, I also got a chance to meet the owner ...very nice guy. Slick looking. Also very agressive. I talked to him for a half hour or so. All he kept saying was you tell me what you want and I will arrange it. Must be nice to have that kind of buying power.
The only thing i noticed is that they are not as selective with their inventory (obviously because of bulk), So you would definately have to look over the car thoroughly before buying it. The manager was insistant that whatever defects, incl cigarette burns in the headliner could be fixed as good as new. I find that hard to believe...is true?

BTW...i realize this a disjointed Water-S type of post but I have been up since 3... and I am not sure why.

here's a pic of the car. I think they look pretty nice...what do you think?

I wouldn't buy from Luxury Motors. Only thing they're good for is to test drive their cars (since they have most cars in one place) and get a idea what you might be interested in before buying somewhere else.

i dunno about luxury motors, but when my dad picked up a flying spur at FC Kerbeck a few years ago it had minor cig burns and scuffmarks near the headliner/sunroof area, and they promised to have it look new hen he picked it up. He went to pick it up and it looked like a brand new interior..so I know it gets done...may just have to be insistent?

I agree, for the V8 sound in that range...I think you can do a little better than CLK, but then again...it's all up to personal taste...

guys give me some ideas!! i am going nuts.........
i am all over the place

335
GC srt8
CLK's
M3's
s4's
645's
s5, a5

i dunno what to do, seriously. What I have been doing is everyday i decide that whatever car is the car for me. Then, with they power of the internet, i research the ever loving shit out that car incl. aftermarket shit, only to do it again the next day with another car.
Is this like a fear of commitment? I mean shit, this is harder than asking my wife to marry me. And I never thought I would do that.

no i wasn't intimidated, i just thought he was funny because he was making the classic moves to "take control" of the situation.
i am sure they would look at any kind of trade in. I can't imagine getting a good deal from them, though.

Loseit...I have heard the V8 on the new S4 and RS4...if the sound is what sells you then drive one of those bad boys!!! I won't even describe the exhaust note because my words will only taint your actual experience of listening to it yourself..

my cuz just bought a black on black 07 that he brought over the weekend before. It sounded tits. But, the trunk popper wasnt working, the seat motor on the passenger side had blown out in the last 2 weeks and w/in first week of ownership one of the front calipers had locked up.
It did not seem to detract from his love of the car at all, however. Me, on the other hand, that makes me feel weary. I know its covered under warranty but still. I tend to drive my cars into the ground. I don't want problems later on. But, i dunno enough about them to have an opinion yet. They look cool and sound cool and go like stink so they are still OK in my book.

You're all over the place lol - all awesome cars, but very different. Narrow down what you want - sedan, coupe, SUV. To me, if you keep researching and moving on, you dont' know exactly what you want or can't find a car with exactly what you want.

How about an '06 M5... if you're willing to move your budget up a bit. New S5 would be hot.... 335 would be too cliche considering you just got done with medicine.

06 M5...i know its a sweet car but not into the V-10 thing or the 75K + thing.

Old M5...to be honest never really thought about it since it is a 4 door. I dunno.

As far as being all over the place ... that is what is killing me. I can find a reason to like any car. I would prefer to get a coupe, i kinda want a v8 + luxury w/o going nuts on the price. I can swing upto 50K but I have never spent money like that so the thought of spending that kinda money makes my sphincter tighten up.

Nope, it means its a decent car to buy cause its gonna hold its value. Hell clean E30 M3s go for upwards of 15K and those cars are almost 20 years old.

Hands down, the E30 M3 is my favorite car. Loseit - try an M5; you will most likely be very pleasantly surprised...

as of last week, ( It might of sold) i don't know
Mercedes Benz of Cincinati 2003 E55 AMG in silver in color with 40,000 miles
for 50 grand.
I know it's a little above your budget but I've always thought the E55 was gangsta. looks like your grandpa's Benz but it can easily doing nothing other than gassing it up and having decent tires on it will break deep into the 12 second 1/4 mile time. a Mustang GT500 drivers will have to be having an EXCELLENT day to beat you.

For the shape that car would be in, no, it's not. Also remember it's an M, there's a premium on those, generally speaking.

And, I wasn't sure if you'd be hip on a 4-door, but then noticed you had mentioned the S4 along with the GC on your list.

I wasn't considering 4-doors before...but it hard to beat the practicality.
I'll go drive one maybe. But, i still would prefer a coupe.
