Fuck, Porsche put a watercooled six where the aircooled version should go. Close enough.

What about the J32a? Could that have dropped in with some minor mods? Then S/C the thing? Just wondering.

Scalbert talked about doing that with twin turbos. Didn't ever happen though.

The only way I'd do a swap like this is if the motor in the NSX was blown.

Just looked it up online thru the dealer and its $13,634.50
A fresh C32B would cost more.

$28,000 for a Toyota engine? I highly doubt that....especially given the fact that they're going in a $40-$50k Lexus.

Which V8 lexus cost $40,000? Hell, which V8 lexus costs $50,000?

And the 3UZ-FE longblock would probably run ~$17,000. Just a guess. Add in a harness and other accessories and I'm sure it's over $20k

Well he said the 4.3L V8, so it would be the 430 series. I'm pretty sure the new LS and GS have the 4.6 so I was referring to the previous gen Lexus and i'm pretty sure a GS430 was around 50k? I honestly have no idea, I don't follow lexus at all...just cant imagine that engine being worth $28k.

Edit: I just checked their site....wow, I never realized how expensive Lexus are brand new.

It's not $28k... but it's a lot more than a complete LS7 (longblock and harness)

LS7 in a NSX. Never thought of that one before.

Interesting what he's doing for a transmission, a Getrag G50/50 out of a 1989 911 turbo. That should handle the torque just dandy.

e-thug alert Wait...you listen to Dave Matthews Band and you have plates that say DMB fan, your opinion means absolutely nothing. The whole "going hard" thing on Acurazine isn't working either, sorry. Works for Sarlacc, nobody likes a copy cat

How about accurate information next time?

In 2004 on his radio show which was broadcast on 106.7FM in Washington DC, Pat Goss got a phone call from a man who had a 1998 Lexus LS400 that broke its timing chain and trashed the engine. The caller said he was quoted $23,000 to replace the engine.

Pat Goss said that was accurate as he had seen as high as $28,000 to replace it.

How's that for accurate? Now shut your fucking mouth.

$23,000 includes labor and everything else the dealer/mechanic is charging, so that adds what? $3k+? $20,000 still seems high considering its just a V8 toyota engine but I don't care enough to look into it. My friend got the engine in his M3 replaced for less than that, and it was done at the dealer out of warranty.

and you still have license plates expressing the fact that you're a DMB fan, so please lose the attitude....you're not fooling anyone

Im on the fence with this one. I dont like the sound of Chevy V8s, but more power in an NSX is a great thing. I hope handling is only slightly worse though.
I was wondering the same thing. A used Hewland?

i can't stand the weird silvery thing that sits on top of the engine and makes all those weird whining noises, such a turn off.
