Well from the website I just posted it says the rotary weighs in around 250. How much more evidence do you want?

If this doesn't seal the deal then I don't know what will. Here ya go.Scroll down to the rotaries. You can look up the v8s too.

that doesn't help either of us. All it states is that some GM motors use alluminum heads. The LS1 has a full alluminum block also. It also doesn't show the weights of a TT 13B

I'm not calling you stupid, I just don't think you realize how light the LS1 actually is. I'm not saying it's necessarily lighter then a TT 13B. I'm just saying it's not far off. But i'm looking for hard #'s for you.

Well, the first website I posted with the Rotary Aviation posted the 13b with everything in front of the firewall weighed in around 350. How much does a LS1 with everything in front of the firewall weigh? Guarentee you it is no where near 350lbs

w/o turbos

Mazda 13A rotary 301 (20) (R130 Lucia - Japan only) (bare)

That site doesn't really seem to break it down to well. It's saying some motors are bare, who knows what they mean by that, then they state w/o accesories

but as you see, add teh weight of the turbos and the motors really aren't that far off

good link, so let's say 497. I haven't been able to find the weight of a 13B w/ twin turbos and a flywheel. But let's say all that adds 100 lbs (that may be conservative) to the bare weight of the 300lb motor you and I found. It's only 100lbs off. Not to bad. I eat crow on saying it may be lighter in my first post then

EVERYTHING IN FRONT OF THE FIREWALL weighed in at 345. We're talking with the downpipe and exhaust. The figure for the the block alone is considerable lighter. My guess would be around 200-275. 100 makes a huge difference if it is placed in the wrong location (over the front axle). It throws the handling way off or at least not like how the rotary would handle. The rotary on the other hand sits behind and almost level to the front axle making it almost mid-engine like. I can't find any site that shows true front and rear weights of an Rx7. So you figure the v8 does weigh more, what do you think they'll do to make the car 50/50? That's 100 lbs more in the front using your numbers. See my point?

man that site fuckin sucks, it's so hard to get an idea of who is posting what.

Good find though, i'mr eading through it. Most are saying not much weight is added.

I also laugh at the guy saying the stock 13B only weighs 260lbs. I KNOW that doesn't include turbos and a flywheel. I guess we'll never really be able to find the weight of a 13B w/ TT's and a flywheel in it.

I honestly think a 13b with the turbos is around 275-300. I have a bare block in my dads shop and it weighs about 200. The stock twin turbos clock in around 40-50lbs. A stock flywheel is about 20 lbs I think. The 13b is literally the size of a milkcrate.

CLpower, you live in huninton beach? i have a couple of partners out there that own a couple of porsche. you ready for the challenge? wait, you drive a CL, you haven't learned to shift well yet...i'll give you a couple more months and obviously you go by what "magazines" claims (or should i say pay to?)

my wager? so you still don't think it's 50/50 with an ls1? lets wager it.

you're such an internet hero, lets bring our cars to the track and put it in a real life situation?

oh let me guess...your excuse is "you're a rich guy who can afford that stuff and i can't so there's noway?" we'll make it worth your while $10k. it'll pay for your gt3 rental and some if you win. there's your challenge. put up or shut up. you wan't to know where we're runnign? we're runnign both coasts. winner will get all expenses paid for the trip to either coast. just take make it fair, we'll run both coasts. this trip is on top of the $10k. im ready to wire the money to the webmaster, what's your call? there are a lot of is300 and s4 forum people that have met me locally and know the extent im able to take...how about you do a bit more research before you open your mouth and try to rush on me?

Let's do it. Half the proof is in this thread already. I've already established that the LS1 does weigh more then the rotary. 450 compared to about 300lbs. Get some unbias proof that a stock LS1 gives a better 50/50 weight ratio then a stock 13b. Unfortunately I cannot spare any money but I will make a bet. Loser stays off this forum forever.

Buying a Porshe doesn't raise your IQ or make you better then anyone else. You sound very full of yourself.

From the website:
...How much weight will be added to my car?
Surprisingly, not as much as you would think. The rotary engine, support equipment, and exhaust systems are heavier than they look. Typical weight gain for a 1st gen car is only 75-125 lbs and a 2nd gen car gains only 125-150 lbs.

Will my handling be effected?
You Betcha, the way doubling the torque would effect any car. Throttle induced oversteer is much easier, and the added engine compression and displacement require much less casual braking than before. As for the added weight, it's a little less than adding a passenger, and only drops the car 3/4". Stiffer springs are available, but not required. If the car is re-balanced to 50/50 after the conversion, the great handling of the RX-7 is retained. If the car is not rebalanced afterwards, the distribution is still better than the Mustangs and Camaros.

The car will have to be rebalanced. What do you think rebalancing means? WHat do you do to rebalance tires?

Dude, :wtf: are you talking about

You don't read very well do you. And i've never ever tried to compare my CL to a porsche. Man you are a moron. I've got a lot of friends out here too, including one w/ a RUF CTR that does open road racing and hit's over 210 mph I also frequently attend meets and canyon runs w/ the porsche guys.

I don't see how I go by magazine claims, I gave you real life track results in the other thread.

I haven't gone against my 50/50 weight distribution on the LS1, i'm still waiting for true weights of a 13B w/ TT's and a flywheel if you hadn't noticed me saying that MULTIPLE times in this thread.

you sound real intelligent, yea I want to race my CL against a porsche on a road course esp. since i've obviously stated it's far superior

I honestly see this as the easy way out of you losing a discussion. Instead of saying "I have rich friends and a fast car" why don't so supply us with some valid, unbias proof that is beneficial in regards to your stance on the subject. Being able to hurl insults just cause you have money only makes you look worse.

Thanks I'm about to sell the Rx7 cause I just got married. Gotta go look at SUVs and minivans now instead of Vettes and Gsxer's. LOL I still got my TL to give me rushes once in awhile but nothing compares to the 900RR and RX7. Got to care for my family now instead of quenching my thirst for the ultimate thrill ride. I got a boring ass 1990 Toyota Camry Auto for a daily driver. Someone shoot me now :'(
