The Lovebug slayer
Lady bought new in Feb for $13,xxx
Boyfriend bought her a new Charger and traded it in at a Chrysler dealership.
We bought with 1,400 miles on the clock for $11k OTD.
Got it mainly so our Mitsu GSX could stay home all day, awaiting the weekend. Additionally if my '03 PT GT needs any work done it can be down for more than a weekend, which is very nice.
Hoping for Toyota reliability and mpg. So far it looks like were getting 40 mpg.
Car details:
5 speed
power nothing
Convenience package with rear wiper, MP3/CD/AUX hookup
no tach
floor mats
So far its hella fun to drive. The seats are amazingly supportive - hopefully that wont fade with age. We had to drive it 5 hours home and does well for itself around town and on the highway. Interior is basic, but nice. The center dash takes some getting used to, especially at night. I kept thinking my headlights were off because the area in front of me was dark. Interior quality is nice - the pieces fit together perfectly - although the materials are to be expected. Shifting is kind of funny. It kind of rev matches for you, if that makes any sense. Ive stalled the stupid thing about 5 times so far, the fiance about the same. It weighs about 2200 lbs and with the 100hp DOHC engine, its pretty peppy. It fits two adults comfortably and has a bazillion stupid compartments for everything. Trunk is small, but enough for a quick trip to the store. The seats fold down and would be enough for a saturday shopping orgy, if necessary.
Why not a used civic or a fit? We couldnt find a decent civic with lower miles for our asking price. Its ridiclous the prices people want for a civic with 100k with no work done to it like timing belt, clutch, etc.
The Fit - we really like it. Cant find a used manual anywhere, let alone at the price we bought our Yaris. At 65 mph, the motor is around 3150 rpms - the yaris is at 2800. The Yaris weighs 200 lbs less. The fit, while rated the same as the yaris, is unable to pull the MPG as the Yaris on gassavers.org and similar forums. Theres a guy on the board that got 52 mpg in his Yaris.
If youre looking for a point A to point B car so you can park your fun toy on the weekend, this is definitely the car for you.

How stable is it on the freeway? Stock non-Si Civics even sway like like hell at 65+
Not my type of car either, but it looks like its serving its purpose for you very well.

Between gas prices and cops everywhere, I just rock the speed limit. Low and slow in the left lane.
The Yaris does well at 70 mph. Didnt have it above that, so I couldnt tell you if it got worse. We had our 1.3L rental in Venezuela we got up to 100 downhill - it was scary, but the roads were bad too so that didnt help. Havent had it in high winds either, but Id imagine it would sway. Even my PTC does sometimes.

The turning radius on this thing. The boyfriend and I decided to turn last minute into a spot and when it made the turn effortlessly without having to do the 3 point turn, we both looked at each other like: That plus good mpg, ultra low emissions, no biggie is someone hits us, less insurance, lotsa stuff you dont think about that you begin to realize when you have a DD.
Not my pics, but its the same:
**I meant low and slow in the right lane**

Congratulations on the new ride Saki! My neighbour bought one for her daughter a year ago and they like it a lot. How many MPG are you getting?

Someday, an RS6 Avant+
Those Toyota,s have been here for a while. They are typical compacts here and compete against the Nissan March and Tiida, Honda Fit, and assorted small cars. The big thing here is getting them with a 660cc motor. Save huge come road tax time (This year, my Saber/TL sets me back $190, while a little compact is $75 or less).
And this Toyota is not even considered a small car here.

Nice pick up for the price....
A buddy of mine bought one and kept it for a month or so but got tired of the cut rate feel to it (his wife has a new X5 and MDX). I never rode in it (not really interested in it) but he swears that it was fun to drive too. Very tossable and light on its feet. He was loving the mileage too! He traded it in on a new Civic EX coupe instead...nice ride and almost as good on the gas mileage.
Congrats again

Little update:
80/20 driving mpg: 38
I should be able to determine 100% highway conditions this weekend. Hoping for 42ish
On a financing note: I guess the bank decided that a 2008 with 1,400 miles was brand new and gave me the new car intrest rate on my loan.

The 4G63 has two variances: the 6 bolt and the 7 bolt. The 6 bolt had no crankwalk issues, which came in the early 1G DSMs (talons, eclipses, etc) and the Evos. The 7 bolts were the ones with crankwalk issues. Additionally, DSM owners are cheap bastards and would rather spend cash on mods than maintenance. When correctly maintained and tuned 7 bolts are just fine.

So we had to take the boyfriends step dad to the airport with all of our luggage. 3 people, 2 suitcases, 4 dufflebags and a bookbag. No problem. It would have been easier with the 40/60 seats but just placing the dufflebags on the other rear seat worked too. I was surprised how much room I had in the backseat. I had just recently sat in the backseat of a Honda Fit and it was very close to that.
Rumor says the 4 door will be brought here in 2010, but who knows.
The boyfriend drove 80 mph and like a jerk throughout Miami and we only got 37.5 mpg

This model here is called the Vitz (more nonsensical engrish). And what I find amazing is that they make these a bit tall, so when you sit in them, it feels like a fair amount of room. Just my

Nice car! I happen to like it a lot...I was considering a Yaris hatch or the Fit Sport after I sold the xBox, but ended up with the GTI. As much as I liked them both, I just couldn't see myself driving it...
I have a 2000 Camry LE V6 that I gave my driver to use as a chase car when picking up/delivering cars, but the gas is killing me (I spend at least $400-$600/month on gas between that car and my GTI for work), not to mention I seem to always have to put a few bucks into fixing it every few weeks. I'm in the processing of picking up an '08 Sentra 2.0 SL to give my driver to run around with to use as a chase car and picking up/delivering cars, and use for the occasional loaner car to my customers if needed. I chose to lease it, and it's "stoopid" cheap. It's going to be a 24 month lease with 15-17k miles per year for under $200 a month...Can't go wrong for a car with leather/sunroof/bluetooth/keyless ignition, plus it's supposed to be giving me 33mpg...hopefully it works out...
