Get what you want (with due difference to your wife) or do like I mentioned before and get a Cobra, with side exhaust and 400+ hp under the hood in a 2300 pound car no one will be casting you for Broke Back Mountain II any time soon.

Makes sense to me... Gotta have a daily driver, a M3 could serve as both a daily drive and a sportscar, but with the TL in the stable, seems like any of your original choices are good ones...
Since you already have had a porsche, might be time for something different... Elise or Exige should fit the bill, but the styling is a little over the top for me...
