Lost keys, now what?
So I managed to lose my house/work keys and car keys (two sets) while on business travel. I don't know how, but they're gone. I was stuck at O'Hare waiting for my wife to come get me last night. Sucked.
Anyway, I called Acura and the fees they wanted for the key and fob were just insane... $50 for the key, $170 for the fob and a $60 programming fee.
Can I buy the blank key and fob online somewhere? Try and save a few bucks?

You can save on the key and the FOB but not on the programing. Buy the key and FOB from Tim at but you would still have to pay programing fees for the immobilizer, as far as programing the FOB goes there should be instructions on that available here on AZ.

You can save on the programming, at least I did. I asked for a quote to program one TL flip key for my Accord (eventhough I had 2). I came back a couple of months later and said I was quoted something like 65 for all the keys (they have to reprogram all the keys for them to work, I programmed 2 TL keys and one Accord key). I had the flip keys cut at an Acura dealer since the Honda dealer key cutter was out of service, the cutting is free.

That sounds about right. I work for Mazda and they keys run around 30-45 dollars and the fobs are about 75-195. And to program the key to the immobolizer unit is 90.00. AND YOU NEED TO BUY A PAIR OF KEY TO GET IT PROGRAMMED> not the FOB. but 2 KEYS IF YOU HAVE NONE with you.

Also, check the thread from when people were selling the TL switchblade key conversion as there was a list at one point of local locksmiths and prices for programming the switchblade key, which would be the same as programming a regular key.
The only pain you will have is getting the first key done since you will need to bring your key code to the dealership and get them to strike the keys unless you have a copy of the master key lying around.

Booyah!
Found a local locksmith that can do it. Saves me a bunch of time and money going this route. Thanks!

Not true. Find a local area locksmith with a programming tool. There are a few here in the DC area who do not work at dealers and they charge less than the dealership to do the programming. Worth asking around a bit to see.
