looking to upgrade my 04 TL to another car

BTW, my recommendation for the OP would be to keep the TL. Why sink your money into another car? Car's are depreciating assets. Keep your TL, save your money and take advantage of this real estate market which will last a few more years. Buy low, sell high. With cars, it's the other way around and that is not a winning formula.
Get off of your parents teet, start saving and accumulating some assets. Then, in a few years when you're in a good situation with some assets to your name buy whatever car you want...likely in cash.

^^^ That's real advice. If you trade in your TL, keep it conservative. Money in the bank and personal independence is worth a whole lot more.
On another note, Blazin that's the best pic of your car I've seen. Great angle.
Recently I've been seriously thinking about returning my 3G TL back to stock, trading in for a 05+ RL or Lexus GS. Personally I like asian luxury for the resale value and reliability.

the lease on my 07 TL is up in 3 months so im kinda in the same boat as you... so far ive test drive the Lexus IS, Mustang GT, new Accord coupe, new Acura TSX, and the G37. Personally out of all of them, the G37 with Nav has my pick but ONLY if its an 09 or later. They changed engines and tranny's for the 09(328hp vs 306hp with 7spd auto or 6MT, 330hp for coupe). bumped up the power with better fuel economy. anything less than an 09 for the G37/G35 and i wouldn't want it.
The Lexus IS is nice but it's a bit small. I'm a big guy and like a roomy interior. If you dont mind the tighter squeeze, look for a used IS 350. Those RWD machine's are nice and pack quite a bit of power. only 306hp but they have more torque than the G37 and they're a little bit lighter.
The Lexus ES isnt a bad car. It's very reliable but not sporty at all. I've heard the Lexus GS arent so reliable. Stay away from Audi, BMW, and Mercedes if you want reliability. The BMW 3 series is the most reliable out of all the series. 5 and 7 have quite a bit of issues.
The Genesis 4dr is a pretty good car. It's huge though. like 1.5ft longer than our TL. Dont forget about the Caddy CTS. The VW CC starts at around $26k new. But VW isnt known for reliability.
Also, you can forget about getting a new premium/entry lux car for under $30K. unless you get a base acura TSX. The IS, G37, and 3 series all start in the 32-34K USD range. So if you get new it won't be premium.

as a side note, i agree with juniorbean with saving money. i wish i was 17 again and with the knowledge i have now. i'd have a lot more money and would of made better investment decisions. but at that age you dont think about this kind of stuff. keep the TL and tell the parental units to dump the money they would of spent on a new(er) car into a fund for you so you have play money later. you'll impress them with your decision and they'll probably put a little more in because they'll be proud.

Ohhh no, i didn't get the RL. i posted for help on the RL forum, because my brother owns an RL and i was trying to help him. LOL.. i still have my TL, but it is sold by the end of this month or early February for sure to one of my cousins..
BUT.. im really looking into getting a 2006 Lexus GS 300 AWD fully loaded (Navigation, reverse camera, parking sensors, rear sunshades, mark levinson audio).. < What do you guys think?
as soon as my cousin takes my TL off my hands, i'm going to shop around to find the best deal..

Someday, an RS6 Avant+
I would say a smaller AWD car, and save a bunch of $$$ for your future. that would be the best advice from us that have been there (or wish we had this type of worry at 17).
