In town car. Was originally thinking about the Civic, but am now thinking about something cheaper.

What do you guys think of a 2006 Malibu LT V6 Auto?

Found one from Hertz for $14,500 with 20k miles. I won't be buying 'till next year so prices should be a bit lower then.

Or is the Taurus better? (It's about 2500 bucks less)

 

I've seen Chargers - bargain basement rental ones go for around 15k with around 10k miles on them, at dealer auctions. Thats a decent car that looks good. What are you looking for in this "beater". Because an 06 Malibu is hardly a beater. And a V6 isn't going to net you the best gas mileage for daily driving.

I want something no more than a year old.

Don't want anything with a timing belt either, not quite ready to jump on the Korean cars I don't think. As for the Sentra, it's a headgasket eater. No thanks.
