Looking at 01-02 M3's have some questions?

What are the packages avaialable for the car and how come used pricing can be so far off. For instance Auto trader has a 2002 M3 convertible private party with 9000 miles for $39900 while the high end for the same car seems to be low $50k's with even more miles. Any problems to look out for, thanks.

Think the engine problem was prevalent for those years

Also depending on what options it has, it can change from 5-10k in price difference.

drive an M3 for a while and you'll realize its not all that.

its not as torquey as the reviews make it sound to be. You have to rev it up there to get speed....if you're gonna do that get the G35 coupe 6spd. I think it has more torque

Check out the BMW site. When I was considering the 330, I got the price over 40 real easy by adding the "winter package", "sport package", leather.... etc.... etc...

You can get a stripped M3 or a loaded M3. It's not like the CLS where there aren't any options except for navi or 6spd (not counting the dealer addons).

the g has one more pound of weight, but 8 more lb/ft at 100 rpm lower.

do i like the G35 over the M3?
i think it's a more practical car. but i think the M3 is still a beast. but he's got a point.

But hes making it sound like the g35 has much more torque, its basicly the same numbers on the dynos, torque wise. 100rpm lower isnt much difference. IMO

oh well. I think Lou is the only one i know who said
"drive an M3 for a while and you'll realize its not all that."

Last time i drove one i thought i wet myself, didnt have that feeling when i drove a g35. :P

Ok ill stop talking now cuz we all know im biased and a german whore.

Yes, yes you are.

Really.

You are.

Really.

But in this case I'll agree with you...G35 has as much torque as an m3...big fucking deal...and m3 is an m3...total beast on any ground...as at home on the streets as on the track. I hate most all bimmers EXCEPT the m3..which I will own in due course

getting back to the original question...

- smg is about 2 g's
- leather/comfort package is about 3 g's
- 19 inch rims is about 2 g's
- xenon lights are about $900

the price stacks up quick...i still think its worth it

u gotta b kidding right? a 330 w/ performance package and a G35 coupe run pretty much dead on even in the quarter mile. an M3 would OWN the G35 coupe...... also, a G35 handles nothing like a M3
