Long block/Short block 3.2

what is the difference and how can you tell? I am just wondering...

Long block generally refers to the complete engine. May or may not have accessory components, but the block, internals, heads, and intake are present. The short block refers to the engine block with the internal reciprocating components, but items such as the cylinder heads and intake are not present.
