A little Accord Love?

Hey fellas, I have been on this site for a while. I used to have a 3.0cl, then Civic, now a 96 accord. I figure I can slip in because its more or less a 2.2CL. I wanted to get started with a little modding and am thinking IHE and a short shifter. Im looking at forbidden and am gonna buy that real soon, I hear good things around here and am looking at exhaust. I am a car n00b. What is a cat-back? Is it legal? Is the install easy? And has anyone had any experience with the SRS products? They are sold on ebay, but I am actually hearing really good things. Also, I want to start learning about cars a bit more. For those of you who are, what would be a good launchpad for me to learn about engines and what not? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks alot guys, this place is alot more personal and friendly than any other forum I have been on.

I'm afraid I can't answer a lot of your questions in regards to the products you mentioned, but a "cat-back" aftermarket exhaust is usually a performance orientated exhaust that is installed after the catalytic converter. It usually, but not always, takes the place of the factory exhaust using the existing mounting points and hangers.

The easiest way to learn about engines, if not interested for a professional career, is to become mechanically involved with the car that you currently have. Start with a few oil changes and general upkeep and take the time to familiarize yourself with your car. There are also a number of repair manuals available (I'm sure for a '96 Accord being one of them) that show you detailed servicing and exploded views. And I'm sure that most people on automotive forums don't mind answering detailed questions if they are able to.
