Leasing a new car for my Girl which should I go with?
I am on the verge of selling her 2005 TL so i am shopping for a new car for her. I am driving her car and she is driving my 2010 TSX right now .. To tell you the truth I would rather be driving the TSX cuz the stereo is better and it has USB where I have all my music on a thumb drive..
She wants a SUV so her choice is a Base RDX sh-AWD .. here is the deal I can get.
$2000 Total out of pocket (fees and 1st month payment) 450 a month for the base RDX for 15K a year 36 months..
Or tell her to keep my TSX and lease a G37X sedan with premium and navigation.. MSRP $41,100
$2000 Total out of pocket $400 a month, cuz a Get VPP pricing and there is $1000 conquest and 60% residual on the G37x right now but its 39 months..
She really wants a RDX cuz she thinks the SUV is better in the snow and she had a bad expirence in her TL in the snow and since then I have been driving it.. BUt with the AWD i think she might spring for the G..
Its a lot better deal also cuz the g costs $6K more then the RDX yet is $50 less a month.. The tech RDX is about $40 more a month cuz the residual it 2% lower...
So would you feel safer with your girl in a RDX or G37x for that price..

Well she is going to pay for whatever she get regardless..
I am gonna have her come down and drive the g37x ..
She actully does not like the look ofmthe 2010 rdx she would rather a 2009..

If I understand correctly his gf wants an SUV because she wants a safe car in the snow, but doing that would require him to sell his TSX and then he wouldnt get the better sound system or be able to use his thumb drive.
But he would rather drive a G37x than a TSX, so now he's trying to make her pay for the G37x and only let her use it when it snows.

It sounds like you value her budget, has she thought about a Honda CR-V EX-L AWD? If she likes an RDX but is not fond of the fugly front end, maybe the CR-V is more appropriate. Honda is very aggressive with their CR-V leases right now...she should take a look.

We just had a 2010 RX350 as a loaner for a few days and that thing was nice. I'd definitely get that over an RDX (I can see why they sell so well)....

Step 1: Get your car back. You paid for the TSX, you drive the TSX. You don't need to drive her car to get it sold. Craigslist? Kijiji? Autotrader?
Step 2: Does she want an SUV solely because she thinks it'll be better in the winter? I hope not, because saying that an RDX will handle better than a G37x in the snow is complete blow. When she had her "bad experiences" with winter in the 05 TL, was she going too fast for the conditions? Did she have winter tires? Winter tires are much more significant in the winter handling of a car than drive wheels are. Not to mention the RDX's SH-AWD system wasn't designed for getting out of snowed in parking lots as much as it was for quicker cornering. If she wants the car for other reasons, fine, but it will NOT help her in the winter.
My suggestion: Get your car back, HELP her sell hers, HELP her make a wise decision when purchasing a new car, if she so chooses. Convince her that an RDX won't be any better than a G37x or TL in the snow, and if she wants better traction, slow the fvck down and put on some winter tires, if that's what the problem was.
