Leasing a Car

I've been thinking about a new car lately. Mostly, I am looking for a car for 35k or less. I was wondering if a hybrid car is worth the premium cost if I am planning to only lease it for a few years. I am worried that whatever I pay now wouldn't be worth it at the end of my lease. What are some of your thoughts and are there any suggestions for cars with a good mileage (not necessarily hybrids). I tend to stick with Japanese cars. Thoughts?

I can't really describe it. It had this funky joystick for a gearbox, and a long dash with a screen set into it that showed you what gear you were in-you kinda slap it around to get into neutral, park, drive. I could just see something going wrong with it. When you pushed the button to turn the damn thing on, you couldn't even tell it was on, and when you revved it, you could barely hear the engine, even with the door open. You press the gas pedal, and get nothing, the needle just slowly crawls up. I understand that they are meant to be speed racers and run off of batteries, but it was just something I could never see myself getting used to.

My mother has an '05 Accord Hybrid. After nearly three Canadian winters and 50 000 kilometers the car continues to perform flawlessly. Except for a software upgrade mandated by Honda and routine oil changes, no other maintenance has been required. And for a hybrid, the thing is very quick. I'm not entirely sure of the mileage she obtains with it, other than it seems to quite economical to operate.

You can get a hybrid for a good price right now. Demand is low and the tax incentives are slowly going away. In fact you get a Prius for 0%. Soon there will be increased demand as gas prices are going up again the summer is coming so prices may rise again soon...
