Lease Questions

Ill keep it short....

2 Months ago my Mom leased an 08 RDX and didn't negotiate, ask questions, bring "master-negotiator" dad etc. Therefore, she got the low lease rate of over $500 monthly and now regrets the whole thing. She traded a VERY well taken care of Liberty and is now regreting it. She insists she got screwed, but I kind of insist that she screwed herself.

What can she do to get out of it,if anything, and what are some suggestions I can give to her?

Thanks bruthas!

You could find someone even dumber than your mom to take over her lease

And nothing personal against your mom. Mine is an idiot too. Must be an X chromosome thing

I'm pretty sure you can't transfer a AHFC lease is the problem. (I tried at one point). I'd double check to make sure though.

I ended up trading the car back in (at the Acura dealer) a year later and financed my 06 TSX. Some other brands like BMW are a little bit more forgiving and do allow the original lesse to transfer the lease 100% if you wanted out, but leasing just didn't agree with me personally and I'd probably never do it again. Honda/Acura definitely boxes you in a little bit on their leases.

Not all X chromosomes are created equal.

first of all, how long is the term? if it is 2 years, then tell her to deal with it because she will lose a lot of $ since the car is too new to sell or trade in.

If her monthly payment is around $500 with tax included, depends on what package she has. The price sounds about right, it could be a little high, but not much. *that is if she put nothing down other than 1st month payment and license fee

IF she traded it in her LIBERTY as a form of down-payment, then yah she got screwed.. really bad

The best advice you can give her now is DO NOT GO CAR SHOPPING BY YOURSELF EVER AGAIN.

How much in penalties fees would she have to pay if she broke the lease?

A LOT.

sometimes when they meant by penalty is Paying off your remaining lease payment. for example. you have 10 month left x 500 a month = 5000 if you want to break the contract.

Can't do a damn thing....You can't even transfer the lease to anyone. Honda/Acura Financial does not allow lease transfers either, so it's gonna cost you more than you think to get out of...

Hopefully, the term is not too long, i.e.: 24 months. A two year lease goes by pretty fast. Sidenote: to upgrading from a Liberty to an RDX.
