LA Auto Show Impressions

Just got back from the LA auto-show:

I spent some time at the Infinity and Nissan areas checking out the G35C and the Z.

While the exterior is very eye-catching and these cars certainly do perform well.... the CL-S interior is FAR superior to BOTH of these cars... especially compared to the Z. It just feels cheap and plasticky.

The Twin-Turbo Greddy 350Z was there along with the usual new models for most of the car manufacturers.

The standouts in my opinion are:

(1) CLK55 AMG (469hp version)
(2) Lambo Murcielago
(3) Ferrari Enzo
(4) M3 supercharged (500hp)
(5) Z8 supercharged (540hp)
(6) 30" Wheels!!!!!
(7) Escalade XLT on 27" wheels
(8) This super-duper Limo
(9) Monster Truck (I'd never seen one up close before)
(10) Mitsubishi Evo VIII
(11) Accord Concept Coupe

For you folks that made it there... what do you think?

i kinda think its unfair to compare the quality of cl-s interior to the 350z. maby its just me, but i dont see many people going "hmm....im looking at this honda civic and an m5" i mean, different type of car. one is 2 seater and very performance oriented, the other is...err.....an acura . its a luxury sports coupe.

No... I disagree.

Nobody would compare a Honda civic to an M5 because its a completely different price-league.

The G35C and the CL-S compete in the identical market. The 350Z is not a sports coupe... BUT it is in the same price market. People tend to compare the 330ci, CL-S, 350Z, G35C etc. together. Yes... the 350Z is more performance-oriented.

My opinion is on the interior. I expected more!

One of the funnier things that stood out to me at the show was the trunk on the CL500. The button to open it is where a handle would normally be, but I didn't realize that those things came up so damn fast. If you stood over it, it would seriously hurt you if it came at you.

Haha, Don't know why that stood out, but it was frightening.

The Enzo there was actually a sold car, the owner let Ferrari use it for the show before he took delivery.

I was there yesterday. I did sat on the G35 and G35C. I for one actually liked the interior better than ours. I like the eyecatching center console, and the orange dials. I guess I am just bored looking at the all black treatment we have in our car. And the driver seat on the G35 is awesome!

I didn't get a chance to sit in a Z. Too many people waiting in line. I do agree with python though; the Z is NOT a sport luxury coupe. You can't compare the interior with the CL. That's what G35 coupe is for.

One thing i felt bad about at the auto show, is the need for everyone to want to touch all the cars, practically every car had finger prints all over them,

at the porsche display, there was this pretty good looking girl lookin at the porsche that was pretty much making love to it, she was looking at the yellow turbo up on a platform, she was carressing it, sliding her hands up and down it, pushing up against it, i was like what the heck?
