Cost Drivers!!!!
playing around is not beating on.....sorry just not true. A couple of hard highway runs or whatever....not beating on. Also, take into account your car is an automatic right?
I'm not going to argue with whatever you said because it boils down to personal preference.

I dont mind having an 8cyl car with over 300 horses to the wheels while maintaining good mpg. Shit i still had a little less then 1/4 tank left when i got home. And yes, i have seen those times for the LS2 gto and i have seen really bad times for the STI as well. Drivers play a very important roll. The GTO has power all across the board, from a roll, the GTO will have its way with the STI. Who the hell wants to launch their car really hard. I have friends with evos that dont want to destroy their cars to get good numbers. They mod them and run them at the track. They dont dumped the clutch at 5 grand and let the awd take control, that shit is crazy. The STI makes great power, but the GTO just has tons more all around. No matter where you are in the rpm band, you will never be low on power. Go over to the neon forums and see check out the honda hookup video. 3 guys i know from yonkers lined up. 1 stock evo, 1 stock sti and one stage 2 srt-4. From a dig, the evo and sti were neck and neck with the evo pulling slightly by 100 and the srt 4 passing the sti. From a 30mph roll, the evo and srt4 pulled on the sti with the evo, about a quarter car length ahead. I am just using real world situations, mag racing is a waste of time. At the end, from a dig, it's a drivers race, from a roll though, i think the gto will walk.

someone mentioned fuel mileage... the STi doesn't get much better mileage than the GTO.
also, whoever did the 1/4 mile run with the GTO needs to learn how to drive... 14.0 @ 102? with 400hp? What is going on there. Even the STi should be faster... as the GTO should also.... low-mid 13's sounds about right for it - trapspeed should be higher. 12.8 is superb.

check the Lingenfelter GTO - 12.6 @ 113 for the base performance package...

They also have a 427 package that makes 535hp... - but costs $21k.

The information mailed to me in my GTO packet from Pontiac has the GTO running:
13.0 @ 108 for Auto
13.1 @ 108 for manual
.86 Lateral G's
0-60's
Auto: 4.6
manual: 4.7
and for those who are unable to believe the Auto CAN be faster, in these car's the Auto trannies shift VERY fast. Of course I still want the 6 MT.

The reason the autos are faster in the 1/4 and to 60 is because they are way easier to launch. GM has Torque management on the autos making coming off the line a lot easier. The manuals usually have massive wheel spin. But from a roll the Manual will pull on the auto because of gearing. But, if you slap a converter, gears and a shift kit, the auto will rape the manual off the line and on the go. It's a GM thing, for some reason their big V8 powered cars run faster with autos. On a side note, when i went to E-town, i saw a few goats running. The autos were very consistant, running mid 13's for the LS1 and high 12's low 13's for the LS2, with some exceptions of high 13's and low 14 second runs. There were no manual LS2 GTO's there, but the LS1 guys were running high 13's, low 14's, because they couldnt launch.

With the revised rear bumper with dual exhausts, add the optional front fascia and you have a more agressive looking car.

The GTO is a Holden Monaro with a Pontiac badge. The Corvette is a Chevrolet, of all things. Would you not take the Corvette 'cause it's a Chevy?
Essentially, the GTO is a 4 seat Corvette, having the same powertrain as the Corvette. If that's not a bargain, I don't know what IS!

Suprised no one brought up the Monaro yet anyway. Good call. and very well put. If someoen turns down a Vette they truly have some unsprung hate for the American sports car, or other demons
