It was so rusted that the hood skin was separating from the inner hood frame. At 60 mph about an inch of the corner would flap up and down in the wind. And then one day, on I-280 near Toledo, the skin ripped off and flew over the top of the car.

I got the hood replaced at a local junkyard with one that was also yellow, but not quite the same color (not as faded). And it had black pin-stripping.

i picked out 2 cars at my visit to my local dealer with my mom. (for my first car)
one was a 99 civic coupe like this..

and the other a 95 accord coupe like this. (black)

she showed up the next day, with this
i was only mad on the inside for about a week.. until i realized it was a car and i was being a spoiled brat.
i ended up loving that thing lol

If I could find another in good shape with less than outrageous miles I'd get another for a DD..
man did that thing have some serious cargo space. and gas mileage was awesome

I doubt you can retrofit the actual taillights since they're a completely different shape, but there are kits that allow you to get those signal flashing style on your 05-09 taillights.
Heck, it was on the 09 GT500, or the KR before the 2010s even came out.

Congrats on the purchase, bearcat. Your daughter will love it. I know many kids my age that have Mustangs and they love em, naturally. On the topic of Mustangs for first cars...a kid rolled up to school in this exact car today (different pic from online). Asked him about it, said he just got it on Friday. The thing is gorgeous in the Kona Blue color. Can't imagine insurance on a new 2011 Mustang for a 16 year old, but hey, they're cool cars!

I don't plan to much mod-wise. Too much money for too little purpose. I did tint it today (35%, NC legal limit). Would not mind some 18" wheels, lowering springs and a CAI (for the noise mostly).
But I doubt even that much will get funded by "The Financial Manager", aka, SWMBO.

Nice choice! My first car was a 1987 Ford Mustang LX. Had the 4 banger baby!! It was RWD and we lived in NY... so definitely no worries here in NC. I drove that through everything... nothing a set of snows and sand bags in the trunk couldn't fix. Great way to learn how to control a car too!!
Best of luck. Looking forward to seeing it soon. You should steal it and bring it to TacoMac one night!!
